Oh hai, Samsung Omnia II
This rumor is for everyone out there who nearly went insane from all of yesterday’s WWDC coverage. Word is that what you’re looking at above is Samsung’s upcoming GT-i8000 aka Omnia II. Assuming the picture is the real deal and the specs are right, we’re hearing that the Omnia II will come with a 3.7-inch AMOLED WVGA resistive touchscreen display, 8.1 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash and VGA video recording at 30 fps, Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth and HSDPA connectivity, miniUSB, 150MB of internal memory and a 1500 mAh battery. There is also a rumor that the Omnia II will run custom take on TouchWiz above Windows Mobile 6.1, which while not as polished as TouchFLO 3D is still remarkably better than the standard WinMo fare. But then, what isn’t? And yes, we too noticed that this resembles the mysterious x-ray of a device Samsung plans to spill the beans on next Monday.

This looks pretty sweet. The iphone 3gs was a real letdown,it left me with blue balls. I might get this or wait for the htc touch pro 2. OR just wait until june 2010 when iphone 4.0 comes to big red with new hardware and new software. I have at&t and they really pissed me off.

I took a nap until the Tour shows up. Its really annoying to write about it while going out of my mind waiting for it. Its a shame that VZ dosent at least leak (intentionally) some Docs like bell did. Its probably 1 1/2 month away from release, and at this point there is no adequate reason to have it tightly under wraps. And believe me most of these leaks which take place “that” close to launch date are intentionally with the full consent of at least ’some1′ in the higher-ups, designed to create buzz, (no offense to our hard working ninjas…) and prepare the masses for the upcoming devices.

high end consumer electronics should all utilize great materials that are solid and not easily ruined by small nicks and scratches which add up over faster over time on plastics.
ipod touch does a great job at this.

Not all resistive touchscreens are created equal. See the N97 for instance. Many reviewers say it reacts like a capacitive screen. Resistive is actually better anyway. More versatile, able to be activated with anything, and capacitive is nearly a failure for handwriting recognition.
To read a spec and assume its performance is silly. Imagine if people compared the 3.2 megapixel camera in the new iPhone to the one in the 5800 XM. Everyone knows the 5800 camera is vastly superior in parts and performance! Its up to the manufacturer’s implementation. Nokia learned from the 5800 XM as far as resistive screens, and others may have as well.
And by the way, according to J.D. Power and Associates, TMobileUSA has been ranked in first or second place in network quality and service for the last 5+ years. Only Verizon has been better. Get the facts…
