Does anyone have any idea which specific manufacturer (and model number) is shipping the new 15″ MBP’s 256GB SSD upgrade?

I’ve heard rumors it’s either a Toshiba, or a Samsung Unit…

Spo they’re perfectly in their contract to have your comp repaired instead of replaced if they feel that’s more cost effective and efficient. Besides you don’t know the meaning of getting stiffed by apple. My girlfriend bought a laptop with applecare and when when she noticed a screen defect a few weeks later they just told her she caused ot and refused to repair it or even refund the warranty she paid for.

I’m not looking for an upgrade of any kind and I’ve been dealing with these issues and tech support long before any mention of any upgrades. I’m looking for the item I purchased to perform properly.
Go plop down another $300 for a slightly improved iPhone Fanboy.

Is that what the new Safari does John? I thought it would close out a tab or window that had crashed due to an add-on all while keeping your other windows open. Sort of like the concept with Google Chrome… isolated “sandbox” for each tab, if you will.

speaking of Apple innovation.. I love the battary life on the new macbook pro 17″. Beats the hell out of my Dell e6400 (business machine).

The added SD is for connivence but it does remove the PC Express slot (which I found useful for my mobile broadband card).

wow, an SD slot on a laptop?!!??!?! im first in line to buy one. what will mac think of next! oh, and their new browser will save your windows if the browser crashes as a result of a plug-in error? firefox has been doing that for three years too. Apple = Innovation.

spo is spewing… Apple support is easy to work with and if you have to send it in… well hey, that’s the warranty they provide. The turn around on their mail-in service is pretty quick too.

If you really need onsite, next business day service then buy a business machine from dell, hp, or lenovo with an onsite NBD warranty. Let’s make it clear that it won’t be half the cost of your apple though.

I just got off the phone with Apple Customer Relations regarding a warranty claim. After several visits to the Apple Store and several conversations with Tech Support we have come to the conclusion that there is definitely something wrong with my MacBook yet they’re not willing to replace it. Instead I should send it out for repair and be without a computer for a week. This is not why I paid $1600 for a 13″ notebook computer. Not to have to spend countless hours on the phone and visits to the store for them to inevitably tell me to send it out for repair. This is what I was trying to avoid by purchasing an Apple product.

Everything you hear about Apple having good customer service is a lie. Sure, they’re nice to you on the phone but when the issues don’t get resolved the service is not good. The bottom line is resolution. It doesn’t matter how nice they are and willing to transfer you to someone that can help. If the problem is not resolved in an acceptable fashion then all they did was waste time.

On a side note, my iPod is almost at the 2 year mark and all of a sudden has begun freezing on a regular basis. I wiped it clean, reformatted it and updated the software and it is still not working properly. Why do these have a shelf life of 2 years? There’s not a scratch on the thing. I take good care of all my belongings and especially expensive electronics. I know many people who saw the sad face on their iPod when it died. They all died right around the same time too.

To hell with Apple and their computers, phones and media players. I’ll go get a Windows 7 PC notebook for half the price of this piece of garbage and a Zune HD.

Buyer Beware. Don’t believe the hype. Apple’s products are overpriced, restrictive and built to fail.
