Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with the new versions Apple announced today as I really was looking forward to upgrading. Why do they still limit them to 2GB of RAM? Yes, forget about running Fusion or Parallels with only 2GB (it works but just too slow). So I’m really pissed about this! Damn you, Apple!

With regards to the design and the wieght it is second to none, the design is amazing, it is REDICULOUSLY light, and has a lit up keyboard adn the LED display..phenomenal.

The only thing I am concerned about is the computing power for online, movies, itunes, and chat all at once. Because I am considering selling my Macbook for the Macbook Air. I want to have the air as my stand-alone computer and have that be the only one I own.

Thoughts? comments? concerns? Please do not respond to hate on the macbook air, i would like some constructive thoughts on if it can work as a stand-alone home computer for the things i stated above. thanks!

And i’m pretty sure the averge working American adult can afford to buy the product, they just chose not to.

There are gold plated phones that sell for hundreds of dollars…if people really wanted to buy them they could but they recognize the lack of value and express their disgust at the product. That doesn’t mean that they are secretly envious and bitter…it means they genuinely think its a stupid product at an unjustified price.

Another thing that we hae in America besides freedom to purchase our desires is teh freedom of speech.

People will buy hardware to support their software, not buy hardware to save money and throw away your choice of software. Even if the hardware is more expensive.

And like other people said … if you have the money, then why not? If you can afford it, go with one that will run the software YOU WANT. I want OSX.

As for software, I wouldn’t compare Apple’s software to premium gasoline because in comparison, Windows software can be expensive as well.

btw, my VW CC requires 91 octane, but it’s considered to be a “budget” car when compared to mercedes. The premium gasoline is needed because of the high compression, but the high compression is one reason why the car is able to get better gas milage. It’s hard to make a direct comparison.

Given, certain Macbook models have slight (arguable)advantages over other similarly priced laptops but the only thing that sets the Air apart is its slim form factor…which would be cool if every other manufacturer didn’t replicate the exact same form factor, with better hardware under the hood for much less. Wtih Free OS’es and Windows 7 thrown in the mix…all comparative advantage is gone (beside the douche appeal). I’m not a Mac hater…but they struck out with the Air.

You can get Alienware with better specs AND Blu Ray for the same price!!

This is for idiot people with money to burn who have to have the latest of everything and are too dumb to realize that the only people who care are the other self-asborbed money-to-burn assholes who jealously try to keep up.

Seriously, this is the one product that none of my Mac-loving friends can justify. Impractical and overpriced… even more so in these current times.

When you can get the same form factor from Dell, Acer, Asus, Lenovo and every other netbook/notebook manufacturer for hundreds less…what is going to make me drop 2Gs on this (after tax, warranty, etc.) when I could pick up an idea pad with better hardware for a couple hundred less?
