Sprint: Pre on Verizon in six months? Nope.

The back and forth continues. Following Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam’s comment that the Pre would be hitting VZW shelves “over the next six months or so”, Sprint issued a brief official statement confirming that its Pre exclusivity runs through the end of 2009, at least. While specifics of the exclusivity deal remain a mystery for the time being, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse has just elaborated on the situation a bit. According to Cnet, Hesse stated the following at a press event with regard to McAdam’s Pre comment:

They need to check their facts. That just is not the case. Both Palm and Sprint have agreed not to discuss the length of the exclusivity deal. But I can tell you it’s not six months.

So, Verizon customers, it looks like you have a bit more waiting than anticipated before you can get your webOS on — at least where the Pre is concerned.

I love how Sprint is saying “No, it’s not 6 months. Both Palm and Sprint have decided not to discuss the length of the contract” when Palm already said that it’s through 2009. Great communication!

And how long is 6 months from now? December. So from right now, if it’s through 2009, then yes, you’ve got about 6-7 months left.

The Atlas is not the Tour. Atlas is going to have WiFi. The Tour does not, so presumably…Atlas = Storm 2.

Personally, I think the Pre is ugly. It looks like an alien Pod.

    Give me the Tour!

What does VZ care about exclusivity? they’ll take a year to start selling their crippled version anyway.

So “through 2009″ means that its exclusive for the rest of the year, but that doesnt mean they implied it was only for 6 months….maybe 6 months was the Minimum

But if they said “Through 09 and into 2010″ then everyone would be rushing to find out when exactly in 2010…which isnt necessary.

This is Sprints Flagship phone…why would they only have exclusivity for 6 months…The Storm, IPhone, and G1 arent heading other places anytime soon.

Of course Sprint will say that! Verizon wouldn’t make the claim if it wasn’t at least remotely true.

It takes Verizon FOREVER to release a decent handset so I’m sure we’ll be well in 2010 before the Pre debuts on its Network. Doesn’t matter to me either way because I don’t want one but just wanted to remind people of Verizon’s relaxed attitude when it comes to releasing a cool handset.

He actually done worse for himself and sprint by “eloborating” on it instead of just keep quiet about it. He made a complete a** of himself. Does he really believe that people don’t know how much month’s is left for 2009?? Idiot!

man, you are a fool. do you really think that VZW is better than sprint? Sprint is the leader in internet from the four major wireless providers. Big red is just a marketing genius because everyone on Verizon THINKS they have the best but in the end, you just carry a more expensive and crippled sprint phone

Basically, Hesse is trying to sell as many units as he can knowing there’s not a single new hero device coming to Sprint this year and they’re screwed. He needs to be ousted.

At least the Now Network ad campaign is good.
