Microsoft’s Bing mobile site now live

We’re not sure if Microsoft plans to get as deep into the mobile website business as Google but as of yesterday, the company’s new Bing mobile site is alive and ready for action. Bing, for those who took a long weekend, is Microsoft’s new search engine; a reincarnation of Microsoft Live Search that is infinitely more usable. Since its launch yesterday in preview form, Bing has definitely received a fair amount of acclaim from around the blogosphere and preliminary user feedback is pretty positive as well. In the short time we’ve tested the site so far, Bing mobile is no different. The site is nice and spry, results pages are laid out well with web, image, news and local breakdowns one click away, and Bing will format linked pages for your phone if you so choose — just like Google. Truth be told, we like Microsoft’s mobile formatting much, much better than Google’s so far. If you’re looking for a great new mobile search option, definitely check out m.bing.com from your handset.

Thanks, Rich!

    Seriously? Zune on the page?

Microsoft, stop advertising your bloatware on your bloatware of a website. Oh well, I guess I’ll start searching “Microsoft sucks” on Bing.

Anyway, I’ve tried searching many different things, and it seems like Bing is hiding Mac, Apple, iPhone, Linux, Solaris and Android as much as possible, and giving Microsoft-related positive news all the glory… Idiots.

Bing will Fail, as Zune did and as Zune(Fake)HD will.

@Jam Tang: go away, mindless hater. How will they get Bing accepted (committing $80million in ad campaigns) if they hide stuff useful to so many? Anyway, searching for ZFS brings back plenty of very relevant links, so methinks you’re just a mindless googledroid.

Not liking it. For starters, despite being a mobile site. The layout (as shown above) isn’t all that well formatted IMO for a mobile site. I’ll keep trying it to see if it grows on me, but getting folks to switch from google for good is going to take an obviously better product.

You couldn’t be any more wrong! Search for iPod, and what will you find? A bunch of sites about Apple/the iPod etc. That’s what a search site does. Doubt you even searched for anything on it, just making up fanboy hogwash. I personally use Google, but its nice to see an alternative. I’ll probably never use it that much, as I use Google Chrome and that has search integrated in the web address field, and also use Android, so this search engine is of almost no use to me, but it is nice. I mean what all can you expect from a search engine? Can I not get the same results from Google, Yahoo!, Bing, etc? I used to use Yahoo!, but it never made much of a difference.

Why do Mac users always sound like Apple programmed robots? They just believe anything they’re told, and will repeat it endlessly on the interwebs as if it’s their opinion.

Bunch of annoying idiots – I wish I could punch them continuously for being so damn arrogant!

On my Pearl anyway, Google’s mobile formatting is better than bing’s. Google looks just like their main website, while bing is kind of cramped up and page wrapped.

Why is it I can run OS X on a system with 1Gb of ram & a 1.6 Atom single core process where Vista would choke it to death? Oh and it runs as fast as anyone could ask.

Focus needs to be on productivity & just price :-)

I’m not an Apple fanboy either I’ve run Windows since 2.0 & run a XP Pro desktop now

Oh, and I use and am very familiar with both Mac and Windows platforms. I’m not an Apple nor a Microsoft fanboy – I’m an IT Professional/Enthusiast and I know what I’m talking about, so, go fuck yourself.

Bing doesn’t do diddly for me on a lap or desktop, but i really like it on my winmo phone. A weather button on the browser…iphone people would call a browser shortcut an “app.”
