Rogers brings the 6GB / $30 data promo back to life

It looks like Rogers is pretty serious about moving those Magics and Dreams because it just resurrected the 6GB/$30 data promo. As you can imagine however, there is a catch to this in that it is supposed to be exclusively for those who purchased one of the two Android handsets that Rogers launched today. Also, a 3-year data contract is required and the promotion expires on Canada Day. Be that as it may, we were able to log into one of our Rogers accounts and successfully add it to two lines, one being registered to a BlackBerry and the other to an iPhone. You’re more than free to try and add it yourself — just don’t blame us if Rogers smacks you on the hand and takes it away from you.

    This is actually a better deal than AT&T in the U.S. I can’t believe that AT&T now costs more than data in Canada which is known to be ridiculously expensive.

    I dont see any information on their main site about this plan being back….. or is it only seen in the my account area when you can change your own plan?

    It sounds like Rogers is the worst of the cell companies. A 3 year contract? Thats retarded.

    @E
    Yes, it’s horrible, but completely standard here. The standard contract length for everything is three years, and they make sure you take it. A $700 phone is $650 on a one year contract, $600 on a two year contract, and $200 on a three year contract.

    Sid’s right. The Rogers website is just terrible. And tying this data plan to two specific phones and a 3 year contract is criminal. This is what they should be charging for EVERYONE, none of this $80 for 5GB crap.

    I just called Rogers and they have nothing like this available for any phone, including the HTC’s, blackberries or even iphones.

    I also attempted to access off of the website and no success there either.

    Where are you guys getting your information?

    I did call Rogers they do have the 6GB plan but its only for the two HTC dream/magic, not for the iphone so far. but the person I talked to said it might be coming for the new iphone too. I have a strong feeling that the 6gb data will come back for the new iphone exclusively too.

    You say you attached you data plan to a iphone and a blackberry on the same account so that they can share the 6 GB? I would like to attach a Rocket stick and an iphone to the same 6 GB data plan so that I can use the 6 GB as my computer internet as well as my iphone. Any suggestions/comments??
