Fido’s 2009 roadmap leaked; $99 4GB iPhone 3G?
Okay, so one of our Fido ninjas hit us up with some exclusive snaps of what is reportedly the entire roadmap for the rest of 2009. We’re very far away from being able to confirm this information — it actually made us pop about 50 antacid tablets — but we’re going to do our jobs as best we can and report the goods. So here we go…
The most notable slide has to do with a 4GB iPhone 3G. While there is a huge disclaimer that the image isn’t the device itself, the slide depicts a 4GB iPhone model that will run for $99 and come with quad-band EDGE, tri-band HSDPA, a 2 megapixel shooter and, believe it or not, iChat video calling (oh hi, front-facing camera). You might recall all of that talk of a $99 iPhone at Walmart that we brought you a while ago — it looks like the timing was a bit off but it may actually happen. Moving on to the other handsets, we have the BlackBerry Curve 8320 for $50, Nokia E71 for $50 and Nokia E55 for $25, Sony Ericsson Z780i for $75 and a bunch of low-end goodness at great prices.

Wow! i can see these things moving for only $99! and theres only a 2 year agreement!
This is crazy cause the current 8GB model that is over a year old is $199, why not just introduce a new 32GB model and drop the price on the 8GB model down to $99. Apple and is making a killing with these phone’s cause now it cost them less than 1/2 to make of what it did a year ago and they haven’t drop the price.
It says 3 years. Canada doesn’t believe in anything lower than 3 years. I’ll say its just made up like the Globalive slides.

looks a lot like the fake rogers ppt……and i thought fido stopped doing 3-yr contracts because it became the low cost options to rogers.

i was trying to not get my hopes about video calls on the iphone….
also, 4gb? unfortunately i bought a 160gb classic when it came it out and filled it up, 128gb i could do with but 4?! if apple is really serious about shrinking flash sizes so small i hope they’re going to licence eaac+ so we can eek out a bit more quality from 64kppbs files
Wow, axing the pearl already? Well at least they are replacing it with a better phone like the E55, I dunno, looks more real than the christmas ones. Z780 was axed before with the E71, I guess its comin back with a curve, but does it have Fido UNO?

ha ichat on at&t wont work because the network will be clogged the fuck up. matter fact at&t will prolly charge extra for it. im still leaving my jesus phone for his son the pre.
Right. Because the several announcements that ATT just made both in tower speed upgrades and 2100 NEW towers they are building won’t improve things.
…right…… enjoy the pre…you’ll be one of the few that buys one especially if a person can buy an iphone for $99.

At&ts network sucks theres no denying it. OK who the hell is gonna buy a 4gb iphone, when the pre was announced people complained oo 8gb is not enuff heck people complain now about 8gb on there iphone. i can almost guarantee you will have to pay extra for ichat. im from ny and i have 2 to 5 dropped calls a day at&t has been raping me for years, june 6th 2009 im done
Doggone…………I wanted the Pre to compete.
And just like that, the Pre is dead before it ever comes out. I love how Apple has the mobile industry by the balls, and not only do they know it, they love to tighten their hands around the throats of competing companies.

You really need to get out of the house more. PLENTY of people only need 4 gigs, think of people in your life like a brother or mother who are not gadget freaks, don’t have gigs of music BUT do want the easiest phone in the world , (and can add apps to it.)
