the ds is garbage, always will be. the graphics are garbage, the cpu is garbage, the games are extremely garbage. if you want a real gaming/mp3/video player on the go, the psp is it. Now with bluetooth its unbeatable. people dont appreciate the power and depth of the psp. its a shame.

@ ssdajoker thats why nintendo is rich and your writing comments on a blog (its ok I am too). The ds has excellent graphics and specs for what it is trying to do. If you havent realized sony game products ARE TOO POWERFUL..

Yes they are much to hi-tech to be able to generate a decent profit and/or sell a large enough number of units to generate substantial third party support.

Its like if Honda decided to only produce acuras.. They would have a great line up but they wouldnt be able to compete with toyota because they would sell more cars and make more money.. Sony has the best console machines in the game industry ( I own a PS3) but they have slightly missed their target market. Xbox hits the market dead center and Nintendo created a newone.. And the PSP is a more powerful than the DS but a portable game is not supposed to be the same as a console game.. The sales shows this the DS is beating the PSP so bad its ridiculous.. When a person is on the go its obvious they would prefer to play a more basic game not a console game.. Console games need HD 3D graphics, hi quality sound, and dual analog sticks.. A portable game needs something different and simple.. this is where touch screens and microphones are suddenly more important than graphics.. Sony needs to learn how to provide great products for their target demographic while making it a financially sound venture..

    @ Celz

Maybe I’m different from most then because I’d prefer to play a real game as opposed to the little shovelware that the DS produces. The problem with the PSP isn’t that it’s too high tech – it’s that there isn’t enough high end games to really make the experience worth while. Developers need to really treat the PSP like a miniature console and actually start producing games for it. Good games are very few and far in between on the machine and because it’s much more high end than a DS the audience for the machine is completely different. Why would we want little arcade games (DS) when we have a machine that’s got more power? That’s why those types of games don’t sell well.

Metal Gear Portable Ops, Resistance, Final Fantasy, Killzone, God of War, etc. are good game examples of ones that are designing the game properly for the machine and they are awesome for it.

I think the PSP Go, though, could change things up a bit in Sony’s favor. For example, eliminating the UMD disk doesn’t only just offer advantages for a smaller size and faster game loading (via the memory). It also means that more companies can make smaller (DS type games) and not have to worry about having a slightly higher price tag associated with the cost of putting the disk on a UMD. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a flood of $5-15 games that are more along the DS/iPhone type games, which will generate a new market for PSP.

Hand held gaming devices… I don’t think they are able to offer the same excitement and passion which one experiences while playing with the consoles.

Though, the PSP does look sleek and clean, but still playing on a PS has an altogether different experience.

It looks that while Sony is adressing some issues with the previous PSP, they are still leaving the bigest problem. No 2nd joystick. Lets be realistick here, basically all 1st person shooters out there suck because of the horrible controls. So, what is the point of introducing a new harware that dont have the proper controls. Sony, thanks for nothing.

@Clueless, the old games are downloadable through on the PSP Go. That was mentioned in the video i think..

    Really?? says:

i think it’s dumb that they didn’t include the second analog stick, it could have been in the place of the start and select buttons, and the start and select buttons could have been above the analog sticks like they original playstation controller. Also, what was the point of the sliding form factor?..i mean sure, it makes it less wide, but it just makes it thicker because there are to separate parts of the device instead of the original form factor with only one piece, which they could have made even thinner than this. if there was a touch screen i could understand the new design, but the controls are going to be need most if not all of the time without a touch screen so once again i ask “what is the point of the siding form factor?”..i’m not even a little impressed..
