I have more likes than dislikes: but for starter, I cant send multiply text to a group because there is no way to put friends family coworkers into categories. If I am sending an email and I type too much, the window will hide the information I typed at the top. I cant send multiple photos as well. My main problem is multiple texts to a group and not being able to categorize my friends, family, etc…etc..

My nephew has a palm pre and I just bought one for the wife – The GPS is always on so you need to turn it off that will prevent your battery from running dying so fast – not sure how he did it but it only took a second – good luck

I need to know if it is work to invest in this phone. I carry 9– contacts on my htc touch win 6.1 and my device is starting to die on me. either i go i phone, samsung omnia ii or palm pre????? what to do sometimes i feel like going back 10 years behing less trouble.

robin just incase you are still havin problems forwarding messages … you need the touch the message and then it gives you the option to… Forward.. Copy…or Delete

I have owned my Pre for a week now and I can honestly say that it is a good devic but still needs some work. There are definitely some hang-ups and hiccups that a phone of this calibur should not have. I am definitely a fan of webOS and I feel its going to be a great OS in time. I am a fan of the screen and the gesture area but I’m definitely not a fan of the keyboard and the battery life. Palm could have done a way better job on both of these things. If Palm can just make a webOS device with a slightly bigger device, (3.5″ or bigger) a bigger and better keyboard, (a slideout or onscreen keyboard would be great) and a bump in internal specs (320MB of RAM and 624Mz or faster processor) All in all its a pretty nice but its definitely not better than the iPhone (although the iPhone can’t multi-task) but I feel that future webOS devices will be better than what Apple will have to offer in the future because this was definitely a better 1st Gen device than the 1st Gen iPhone.

I bought the Pre last Thursday. Sprints coverage, in Pittsburgh, is as good as anybodies. The keyboard is better for me because of the comma and @ keys. No need for the secondary key. The web is great….iPhone a little better. Email setup is cake and easy to use. I’m not impressed with battery life but I never am with any phone.
Sprints plans are a great value too.

i have had the pre since it came out,, i loveeeeeeeeeee my palm pre…. a few things that were upsetting were that there is no video cam ;((( kind of sucks butttt i got over that…its not easy forwarding texts or sending pics ;(( butttt other then a few lil things i love ittt,, so many diff things to do when i have free time i play on it and keep finding more reasons why i love the phone..

I bought the Pre the day it came out. I have been looking forward to this phone for a very long time. There are a lot of awesome things about this phone. The camera takes outstanding quality photos, the web is fantastic, and accessing your email is a breeze. I am disappointed that when I bought this phone, that they didn’t tell me that the battery life is horrible. I have to bring the USB cord with me to work to hook it up to my computer so that I can make it through my work day without my phone dying. I also was not informed that you cannot do something so simple as in forwarding a message. These are 2 important things to me and could have made a difference in whether or not I chose this phone. For the price, I think I should have my cake and eat too. Overall, the phone is pretty cool, but Palm really needs to work out some kinks.

Just as Flava Fla rapped once “DON’T BELIEVE THE HYPE.” I’m a business owner and solid Palm user for 10 years. I still have my orginial Palm with touch screen from back in the late 90’s. THe operating system on the Palm Pre isn’t all it is made out to be.

1. It will not sync directly with your computer via the cable. Standard Palm feature is the Sync.
2. The work around is to set up a google (gmall) account and use the google calendar. Sort of works. But it doubled up all my meetings in Outlook. Great so now I have to remove thousands of entrys.
3. The system isn’t as fast as they say. My calendar today won’t pull up. I can stand in the backyard with FULL bars and I still get nothing. I go to the month calendar and can see meetings. The system just won’t pull it up. It’s locked. So much for the super fast multi tasking system they have.

Cool features are the GPS which isn’t new and amazing but cool on a cell phone.
It will sync up with your Facebook account pulling down all the contacts emails and registered cell numbers. That might scare some in the single world and married for that matter. I don’t think that I would want a crazy chic to have easy access to that information.

Needless to say, DO NOT BELIEVE THE HYPE. I would never have bought a 1st issue phone but I fell for the hype. I’ll never never never buy a 1st release cell again.

The Palm Pre needs some work. Booooooooooooooooooo!

I’ve had the Pre for a week. It’s cool but the battery life is killing me. It’s in the case on airplane mode right now because it hit 5% at 2pm. I didn’t take it off of the charger until 9am!

I got this phone and I have to say I am very disapointed!! Ive only had it for 2 days and already hate it. For one my signal is horrible compared to my old sprint phone and the blue tooth only works for a headset nothing else. The voice mail is stuck saying I have a message. The keyboard is so small its useless and there is no on screen keyboard. There is also not very many setting at all on the phone, You can’t even change your text message tone or vibrate pattern. No video camara or zoom on the camera!! no sd card(lame) and the worst thing about it in my opinion is the battery life!!!! Its horrible!!! I can’t even make a whole 8 hour shift at work!!! so in my 2 days of having this phone I am already taking it back and activating my pos instinct again LOL!!! maybe the htc pro 2 will be a nice phone!!!

My 2 cents..Unfortunately for Palm, I don’t think they’ve built a strong base to grab the mainstream consumer market like Apple has been steadily attracting. Things like itunes and the app store, while a bit ‘proprietary’ for high end users and tech geeks, will make it extremely difficult for Palm, Blackberry and Nokia to beat the iphone. I doubt features like 5 mp cameras and multitasking etc matter that much to ‘normal’ people…its all about the software and UI

Heck Nokia’s response with the N97 is doomed to fail. First they got no carrier subsidy at launch. The name of the phone itself isn’t very attractive (nor its app store counterpart called ‘Ovi store’) and no one will pay $699 for a phone…..pretty stupid of them

Best of luck to Palm and Nokia. I like competition in the market…it keeps everyone on their toes, driving innovation and bringing prices down. Unfortunately I don’t think Palm, Nokia, Samsung, Blackberry or HTC have hit the sweet spot like Apple has.

You must not have TEP, even though they should replace it for you. That cost to replace is for those without insureance, don’t see how a $7 monthly charge wouldn’t be worth it on any device, let alone this one

well guy i am so mad, i want to cry,

Well i was at the sprint store at 840am and finally was able to get in at 930. i got myself a pre. i love the phone. Unfortunately when i got home, after i took the plastic protectorout of the screen i saw that there was a little screen crack, nothing major so i decided to return to the sprint sore, by the time i got there, till now the crack is getting bigger and now he scree is not even functioning at all..i told them about it, but they want me to pay an extra $119 to get the phone fixed, or to contact palm who is being unfair as well
This wasnt my fault, i didnt drop the phone or anything, i am so mad and thy want to charge me more for something i didnt do. On top of that, they dont even have a phone left there, so i am stuck…i really feel bad really really…i dont know what to do. If you got advice, message me at http://www.PalmPreForum.org thanks.

I have a palm pre shea and if apple 3.0 aint up to par palm pre will blow it out the water landscape texting and copy and paste will not be enough. Multitasking should be a standard on every smartphone its so nice to have thank you palm

I’ll admit, I own the iphone 3G and I owned the first generation iphone as well as soon as it came out. On the other hand, I am very excited to see how the pre fairs in the market.

The one thing (besides apps) that would drastically help sell a higher volume of this phone is the price. That’s where I feel Palm really dropped the ball.

Here is a phone that does many of the things the iphone does, some of them even better – but it also leaves out important parts too according to this review. Case in point: the browser, and the build quality of the phone.

People shouldn’t have to pay $100 more for a device that doesn’t even meet the iphone’s quality. If anything, Palm would make a killing by offering this phone for $150 without a rebate.

I abandoned my Treo Pro, having owned Treo’s since they were made by Handspring. Syncing issues drove me batty over the years until I couldn’t take it anymore. PalmOneSourceWhatever seemed to be disinterested in these issues, falling back on user error and implying that the problem wasn’t there. Palm OWNED this market and gleefully flushed it. As much as the anti-apple nerds WANT this thing to kick the iPhone’s butt, THIS former Palm user won’t touch it, and I’d wager there are a ton of us out there.

Greatest phone in todays market on the nation’s fastest mobile network…it dosent get much better.

If people can get use to the Centro’s keyboard the Pre will not be a problem (use the tip of your fingers to type).

The multi taksing feature is not delayed. I had 4 different applications open and bounced between them with no problem. You will find it most useful when you need to reference something while in an email/text/im.

This device will not replace a BB BES server. Active sync is not terrible but it’s not super fast like a BES. No consumer is on a BES anyway so it will not affect any of you. A email will hit your Pre a couple of minutes after it hits your computer. No manual syncing, no worries.

lol, BG said this thing felt “just so light.” But someone else mentioned that the iPhone is actually lighter. I looked it up:

iPhone: 133 grams.
Pre: 135 grams.

The Pre is actually heavier, though I’m sure the difference is so slight you couldn’t tell. Point is, it’s as heavy as the infamously heavy iPhone and that’s too light?
