New BlackBerry Storm OS coming to Verizon on May 31st
So let it be written, so let it be done. Rejoice, Verizon Storm owners, because the OS update you’ve been literally dying for has finally arrived. We just received official word from our pals at VZW that a new Storm OS, 4.7.0.148, will be released on Sunday, May 31st at 3pm. According to Verizon, this is a “general maintenance release that improves the overall user experience.” Proactive users can hit blackberry.com/update at that point in time to get the ball rolling. For users with a less urgent desire to upgrade their OSes, a rolling OTA upgrade (Options> Advanced Options > Wireless Updates) will begin at 10pm on the same day. Who’s excited?

hahaha us iPhone fanboys are getting all those features now and the OS will be still snappier. You Storm users are kidding yourself. BB are on the decline and you know it. I know all you BB owners has an iPod too. Don’t hate, just ask RIM to start making MP3 players and see if they can duplicate the iPod.
I love my storm I’m using to type this can’t wait for update would o used leaked version just wasn’t sure if it was true the only thing I don’t like is a limited sms txt amount o well I just use an mms in that case
O we don’t need an ipod for the storm its an mp3 video player it is sweet and the click screen makes it better than any touch screen by far

When you do the update via the computer do you have to worry about losing any information on your phone such as pix, contacts, music, apps and so on? or does it not effect that? i used to have a palm treo and when i did an OS upgrade it deleted everything off my phone without me even knowing it was going to happen.
well its sunday and i recieved an update on my phone but its for the 4.7.0.75 version. Did anyone recieve the update like what it says above?

Doesn’t look like this came out. Nothing via wireless update and their update site (vzw.smithmicro.com/blackberry/) doesn’t show anyting but 4.7.075 still. Sounds like the official words to rejoice where not as accurate as we hoped.
It worked for me, guys. I was signed up to receive email notifications of updates and I was completely surprised last night because I had given up on this whole OS upgrade deal. I used the desktop manager and it worked almost perfectly for me. There was an issue where it wasn’t able to restore my applications and such, but I was able to do that from my desktop manager with the backup I had done just beforehand. The biggest difference I’ve noticed so far is the decrease in lag. Especially in taking pictures; I had always avoided using the camera on my Storm because it just took too long and I hated it. There is the QWERTY keyboard in portrait mode now, so that’s pretty neat, though I’ve just grown accustomed to using my Storm on it’s side when I have to type.
Very excited to see what other improvements I can find.

New OS is a disaster! Have to pull battery all the time.
The update changed my Storm from a frustrating P.O.S. in to something that is actually easier to use, more intuitive, and quicker. All hail .148!
I also like the way that the black button bar when using the camera is now translucent, so you can see the entire frame of the pic you’re taking.
My Storm late last week started tweaking out and rebooting spontaneously, no rhyme or reason. With .148, it hasn’t happened since.
Yeah I wish this would have been better out of the box, but I’m glad they are still working to make it better for us suckers who bought it!
Did the update and love my storm even more. Seems to be more responsive plus love the new features that I have noticed so far 1.moved emergency button lower on the log in menu (for enterprise users) 2. love the edit bubble that is moveable so easy to go back and correct or change your text 3. camera is faster 4. keys are move responsive and seem to move faster.
There are also lots of little things… Like when you make a mistake when typing and want to follow the word with punctuation you no longer have to press the punctuation key twice.
And now it highlights text fields and buttons on the internet so it is easier to know exactly what you are clicking on.

IT DOESN’T REALLY MATTER WICH ONE IS BETTER BOTH COMPANIES MAKE MONEY BY MANUFACTURING THIS DEVICES AND WE ARE HAPPY USING THE ONE THAT WE FEEL IS BETTER FOR OUR PERSONAL USE.

Hey Guys, since everybody here seems to have forgotten more about phones than I know, I am trying to decide between the BB Storm, the Samsung Omnia, and the new BB Tour. Im with VZW. Any opinions/advice on which is the best phone?
