BlackBerry Storm OS 4.7.0.148 change log
Ok, BlackBerry Storm owners, you’re probably still in a euphoria-induced haze after having learned that an OS update is finally headed your way this Sunday from Verizon. It’s time to calm down and focus though fellas, as one of our ninjas just came through with the change log. The Storm OS has been a sore spot ever since we spoke of it in our early review of the handset and now, 155 years later, we’re finally going to see some fixes. Four pages worth of fixes in fact! Hit the jump for the full run down and get ready for some serious update love next week.

Where is the Verizon update? It is now June 1st and Verizon doesn’t have it on their website and the update is not working on the device. Did BGR get bad information? Has anyone updated through Verizon yet? Does blackberry’s website have it up?
Does anyone know if the upgrade will the delete any info though? Because it says before you start that some personal data could be lost.
Thank god. Downloading the update now. I was just about to go into verizon and demand a new phone cuz this thing was such a piece of crap. Hopefully the update with fix all the issues I’ve had with it so I can be happy. They still need to get their game up on the Apps end tho.
I think everyone needs to remember that this is Blackberry’s first venture into the touchscreen world. And for a first step, it’s a big first step. RIM has been innovative with the surepress, impressive with the visuals, on track with the browser and tasteful with keeping to blackberry’s business person-esque roots. The storm isn’t perfect and this update doesn’t make it perfect, but at least now it’s fast enough to be very productive. Plus, I think RIM is aware that this was their first attempt, hence all the talk already about the Storm 2.
Palm? Pre?? Are you kidding??? As a palm user for more than a decade, I have switched to Blackberry and am far better for it. Palm is history. No new products, Just PICTURES of a Pre for more than 6 months. And then on Sprint
Palm is a joke
Anyone else using a 3rd party theme still getting tons of lag? What about the dialer not fitting the screen?
I had .148 leaked, OTA says no updates available, Desktop Manager shows the .148 leak and the .203 Verizon .148 but when I click to load the .148 from Verizon it says there is no new applications or data to load.
WTF? Help Please!
Stop all the hatred to the storm its actually a really good phone and it shits all over the iphone with verizons 3g
.148 upgrade excellent, too bad it took so long to get here!
This upgrade is so fucking awesome.
Verizon is playing it smart this time in offering the PRE after Sprint’s early adopters help iron out 6 months of PRE’s own bug-iness. The first six months of the PRE will be just like the first six months of the Storm. Verizon is smart to let Sprint be the guinea pigs.
Phone doesn’t matters that much though but the service from the Provider matters most.
VERIZON is the best in providing services and thats why its still the Number 1 in USA.
ok people… you do realize this was a generation ONE storm? You are never going to get a bug free generation ONE device. Even the almight iPhone had gen one bugs.
The Storm has definitely had its growing pains but this OS update has really renewed the phone for me. I’ve been sitting on my hands waiting for the Onyx but no more! I’m re-converted. They worked out the major bugs from the first generation of a new phone. It’s not like this is a process exclusive solely to RIM.
You’re a moron. No one is going to switch from a BB to a pre. Get real.
Poor verizon Wireless, they just don’t get it. Sure they have the service, but it’s the phone too dummy! Give us handsets we can love on or see ya.
I agree…I love my storm
so what if it has a few problems? No phone is perfect. People that hate it are lame and should get over it.
I am excited for all the new upgrades, it will definitely help make the phone even better! So leave us alone you haters.
Verizon will be waiting more than 6 months for the Pre, if they get it all and I think a lot of manufacturers took a look at how RIM rushed the Storm out which was why the Pre didn’t come out til now. If they do get you bet it’ll be neutered and cost more to own so have fun, maybe that’s why vzw has an internal document playing the Storm against the Pre
Just upgraded w/ .148 OTA…process was smooth w/ no problems. I like my Storm more than I did before. No problems with any of my phone’s functions.
Couldn’t leave Verizon … all my family and friends are on the same network. I’m glad they fixed all the problems. I have one upgrade left on my account, saving that for the Storm2.
i switched from att to verizon…what a difference! i like both phones, but the business aspect is easier to manage through blackberry(period).
iphone has this storm doesn’t…give storm the same amount of time iphone had to develop the applications and i’m sure they’ll be at the same level (for their age if you wish).
again i like iphone a lot, but i can’t help to laugh…iphone3 with compass???? really???? can’t wait to use it! (that’s a joke)
So I got the update and it comes with a really cool new feature!
When I plug my phone into a charger while it’s locked it stays locked until I pull the battery.
Pretty neat!
As BGR said, this is the most compelling device currently on verizon.
I tried it back in December, and found it unusable. I could barely even make a call without it locking up.
I have now come back to it to find a much better device. I wonder how it would have gone had it been released with .148? I (personally) like it better than the Pre I played with.
For this second go-round screen doesn’t move around either. The card-stock fix, or a little electrical tape on the battery works great for those that still have the screen wobble.
In short, I am FINALLY enjoying a quality, uncrippled smartphone with verizon’s great network.
this update did fix a lot of issues. Finally, camera (pix and video) works the way it’s supposed to! Verizon’s service is as always the best
Sad to say, but my camera reboots the device after taking a few shots and zooming, and the memory leak issue is terrible. Had to switch back to my Curve, which keeps memory above 30MB even with everything running. Simply amazing.
Where is the TOUR? Can’t wait until July!
Migrated to VZW.148 ~3 weeks ago and…
1- Navigator quits working after 10 minutes
2- MP3 player goes silent after 10 minutes
Background – My Storm operates behind our corporate BES. Password policy is enabled and locks down after 10 minutes. On .75 the MP3 and Navigator always worked while password policy was BES enforced. However under this new OS, music and navigator do not behave the same.
