Palm Pre First Hands On!
Yes — you’re looking at the first site in the world to have a Palm Pre (or at least be able to post it up). There’s so much to say but that’s going to have to wait for our full review. In the meantime, here’s a couple first impressions of the phone and a few more photos after the break:
The Pre feels really good in your hand in terms of size and shape, but there’s a real plasticky aura about it. Additionally, things aren’t looking good for that QWERTY either. And hey, you know we take them keyboards seriously! When you try and type on the top row of keys, your finger hits the bottom part of the front piece and on top of that, you often hit multiple keys at the same time while typing. It’s actually really frustrating and doesn’t bode well for such a fantastic social communication/personal/business tool.
The screen is really responsive and blends right in with the casing — awesomely executed and the capacitive touch is so damn beautiful. We’d rate it just behind the iPhone but in front of the T-Mobile G1 as far as screens go. Ready for a couple more shots while we stay up all night and write this review? Hell yeah you are!
To be completely honest, we didn’t cover synergy real in depth. I know when the phone starts up it makes you go through terms and conditions, enter a name and password for the phone, and then asks if you want to import facebook contacts. I’m almost positive it will be able to import calenders and contacts from yahoo, but I will not say for sure. I will get ahold of my manager sometime today and ask him about it.
BGR obviously got a cease and desist letter from Sprint. If they weren’t so AFRAID, they would have already posted the review. I bet the review was completed 3 hours after the original post.
BGR: Man up and release your review. Prove that you aren’t in the carriers pockets and make a name for yourself!

You are forgetting his post are in a color of blue that no ones are and the fact that the real BG (who did call out Joe BTW) also has the BGR logo in his posts. Nice try though…
Yeah well it was worth a try…i started to go back and find his initial calling-out of said d-bag-joe to find any identifying markers but my hands and brain got tired quickly and I just fizzled out…thx for the heads up tho…i now have more respect for the site knowing that the BG or a representative of the BG will come on and destroy a poser… like joe of course…not me…ahuhuhuhha
cantgivename – thanks for checking into that…synergy is a great concept, but if it doesn’t support yahoo it will be a huge pain for those of us not intersted in swithching to gmail

Also in Joe’s defense he was just f’in around and just picked a bad time to do so. I have seen his posts in the past and he is a pretty open-minded guy. Sarcasim can be hard to pick up in text.

I think the keyboard will be just fine for me. I use the dash and the keys are closer together than the Pre and I can type just fine with it (I do not have tiny hands either).
This guy has the Palm Pre and does a good job of answering questions….be sure to check it out that way you dont have to keep checking this site…..its pretty clear that BGR doesnt have the phone….just say you dont have it…..this is poor journalism……people lose credibility like this….`

Sprint didn’t like the initial impressions that BGR posted so they took their device back
Initially they had it ’stickied’ to the top…then they started putting news stories on top of it….now it has dropped to its original place in time? Is it being buried…surely not. I will wait patiently…I can’t believe I even care to be honest…I WAS waiting for the TP2 from Sprint until I started reading d94’s posts on precentral…now I’m not sure…ugh

To the Jerkoffs that keep hating on BGR: Have you ever written an in depth review of a product professionally? Writing a review for a hugely anticipated device, with a large feature set, takes time. If you want reviews based on the guys who’ve played with it for TEN MINUTES, or watched the CES videos, then there are plenty of other sites for that.
If he’d had the review out a few hours after getting the device, you would have cried “how can you give an honest review to something you’ve only used for a few hours” and such.
BGR has never perpetuated any sort of fraud in the blog for any product, so all you conspiracy theorist that keep shouting the photoshop crap should shut up and quit showing what noobs you are.
Holy shit! What is the big deal about a “delayed” review for a device you can’t even buy yet? When he is done the review he will post it. What is so complicated about that? If BG had posted a hasty review you would all be up in his face about the shitty review. Assholes.

Why is it that everyone who likes the iPhone is automatically labeled a Apple Fanboy – but any who drools over the Pre, or staunchly defends WinMo, is somehow just an unbiased observer?
It’s sad that anyone who prefers the iPhone has to start their post with “I”m not a fanboy, but I own the iPhone…”
Meanwhile all the Palm advocates are, to quote an SNL skit, jizzing in their pants over a phone they haven’t even used yet, but they’re sure it’s going to somehow resurrect Palm and wipe the floor with the iPhone.
