Palm Pre First Hands On!

Yes — you’re looking at the first site in the world to have a Palm Pre (or at least be able to post it up). There’s so much to say but that’s going to have to wait for our full review. In the meantime, here’s a couple first impressions of the phone and a few more photos after the break:
The Pre feels really good in your hand in terms of size and shape, but there’s a real plasticky aura about it. Additionally, things aren’t looking good for that QWERTY either. And hey, you know we take them keyboards seriously! When you try and type on the top row of keys, your finger hits the bottom part of the front piece and on top of that, you often hit multiple keys at the same time while typing. It’s actually really frustrating and doesn’t bode well for such a fantastic social communication/personal/business tool.
The screen is really responsive and blends right in with the casing — awesomely executed and the capacitive touch is so damn beautiful. We’d rate it just behind the iPhone but in front of the T-Mobile G1 as far as screens go. Ready for a couple more shots while we stay up all night and write this review? Hell yeah you are!

Can we say EXCLUSIVE?!
Awesome!!! I WANT ONE
Not very impressed thus far. Maybe after a full review. I’m sure there will be tons of people just waiting to get their paws on this one!
Oh right. First!
The keys did look really small. Perhaps, the keyboard takes some getting used to, but doubt it.
Oh yeah, FIRST!!
Looks so tight!
BGR rocks! Can’t wait for the full review. Awesome first hands on.
looks kind of matte-ish. not as shiny as pictures show
52nd!
lol… talking trash about the physical keyboard, at least it has one! (unlike a certain positively reviewed phone)
Looks extremely cheap, the plastic that is.
I got burned when I bought the Touch as soon as it was released without trying it in store or reading the review (fool me once). This time I’m going to wait it out for a few weeks and then decide if I get the Pre or cross over for the new iPhone.
Unbelievable.
Boy Genius is at it again.
Can’t wait for a full review. Color me jealous.
looks…different with those pictures taken..idk why..but ughh wanna hold it in my hand so much!
STEP OFF, BG!!! Wow. Congrats!
iPhone fanboys attack! (I’m already too late, its started!)
Everytime I see pictures of this thing it looks “bloated.”
Does it really look/feel that way in the flesh?
I’m not saying all phones need to be small and thin, but form factor is an important selling point if you want to sell it outside the world of us nerds.
I was looking at the new pictures of the HTC Magic coming out soon and when I compare the form factor between the two the Magic wins despite a lack of a physical keyboard.
I think the fact that ATT will eventually sell this is good news for Palm but not so good news for Sprint. I also think it is a mistake to sell this thing so close to the time that the new IPhone comes out. Sprint risks a lot of returns for all the nerds with buyer’s remorse syndrome.
9th!!!!!!
looks very sleek
Congrats on the early hands-on access. Staying tuned to read the full review. I’ll be at the June 3rd event in LA so I hope to get some hands on time myself prior to the launch.
Please keep playing with the keyboard. As an email/text freak, my biggest worry is that the keyboard is too small. I hope it is something a person can get accustomed with but it sure does not look promising. CONGRATULATIONS!!!
The keyboard will probably take a couple of days to get used but hot damn! that is one sexy phone.
With all the bad pub AT&T is getting I can’t beleive anyone would even want an IPhone. I have had a Sprint acct for 10 years and have never had an issue with my service. I can’t wait to get my hands on this phone.
Very unimpressed, but looking forward to your review just the same…
I’ll be Waiting for the Tour.
Looking forward to your review. Thanks!
I believe it will sell alot of units, but im not very impressed by it
