iPhone came out as an entertainment platform, but now a days it is much more than that. Look at all of the big name corporations developing enterprise apps for iPhone. Look at the moves for this device in the medical field. Ask anyone who works in medical and they will tell you that iPhone is a leading device in that sector. And as 3.0 comes out, there are numerous devices that are being developed for it utilizing the new connector support. Blood pressure cuffs, glucose readers. All of this support virtualized medicine where doctors can instantly send results and get supporting diagnosis from other doctors remotely.

Saying iPhone is strictly an entertainment device just shows a lack of research. In reality, iPhone is an awesome entertainment device as well as one that is being looked at as a leader in several vertical markets.

My point. LOL Going WiMAX is a stupid move for Sprint because it will limit their device availability even more. Why would manufacturers spend a lot of money to develop and bring out new phones when Sprint is the only carrier using Wimax while everyone else is going LTE?

Sprints 4G Wimax is only a short term marketing gimmick that will put the nails in their coffins later down the road as LTE devices come out and they can’t get any phones.

I just find it funny that people here tout Sprint as having a 4G network before anyone else has when really this doesn’t mean much.

Upon my iphone 3G screen breaking on Sunday, I learned a valuable lesson that the iphone (the phone itself suck’s). Honestly without the app store, you will be getting the same phone being revised every summer. Seriously, an easy to use phone yes, but a better hardware wise phone no. My focus is on Windows mobile OS / Android OS n Palm Web OS phones that are coming out for ATT. I am choosing 3 phones being Palm Eos, HTC Fortress and HTC Lancaster. Just like my friend said why spend money on a revised version of the iphone 3G, when you can just upgrade your iphone firmware to 3.0 OS. I’m seriously glad that my iphone is destroyed because the Andriod has software shop n broswer that comes close to an iphone. An with the windows mobile “flash, flash, flash”

My disappoint was when the 3G i phone was released it still lacked features that were available on a Razr.And when I can get my emails without a 20 min lag. I’ll make my decision when it appears at the Apple Store this July. Bah!

iPhone wasn’t a disappointment. A lot of people disliked the original iPhone because of the features that it lacked. People flocked to the original iPhone because at the time, there was nothing like it. Now a days though, everyone is trying to compete with iPhone, so we have more graphically enhanced phones.

Now a days though, the allure of the iPhone is not because it is unique. The allure of the iPhone is because of the quality of the apps being developed for it. I have spent a lot of time with Blackberry, WinMo, and my iPhone 3G, and I can tell you that they don’t compare with what we get on the iPhone. Pit me side by side with anyone using any phone and I guarantee I can get at information a lot more conveniently and a lot quicker than they can. I hate to use a line from the commercials … but “there is an app for that.” regardless of what I need. And even if there is a similar app in winmo, I can guarantee the iPhone version will let me get information faster and more conveniently. That is why people love the iPhone.

WiMAX (802.16) is not upgradable to LTE! I don’t know what you are smoking or where you read this information. WiMAX can be used as a layover for GSM and CDMA to increase capacity, but can’t be upgraded to LTE. LTE will be introduced in the 8th release of the 3GPP project.

Just to satisfy my curiosity on how you came about this conclusion, I did some searching and found absolutely nothing about 802.16 being upgraded to LTE.

The problem with Sprints 4G network is that it has an even smaller market than CDMA. Manufacturers don’t produce most of their phones for CDMA because it has a small market world wide. Verizon is going LTE just like everyone else, meaning the availability of phones will get much better for Verizon because there is a bigger market for these manufacturers to sell phones.

So, Sprint is using WiMAX 4G as a marketing ploy NOW, but in the future they are digging their graves by going with a 4G technology nobody is using. This means smaller phone availability.

I’d like to see the HTC Lancaster come to T-Mobile over the HTC Magic (G2, MyTouch3G, Etc.) It basically has the HTC Magic design with the slider qwerty. Looks like the perfect phone for me lol.

And way to go sprint going to WYMEC with 4g when everyone else is going LTE which is going to be supported globally. Say it over and over that all the WinMo phones are also going to be on Sprint and Verizon, but that doesn’t make them the same: there’s no simultaneous voice and data on CDMA networks. Case closed, and sadly I’ll be sticking with AT&T and picking up the TP2.

I just wanted to point out to everyone that thinks onyx is a fake device because of the mock up in that slide, that crackberry.com has comparison pictures and a video of onyx. It looks to be the ultimate blackerry, although some people will prefer the larger size of the bold.

I have never had issues with my curve and I run software like crazy. I hear the Storm has a bad memory leak though, which is what most people complain about. It just sucks that RIM is releasing the storm 2 rather than focussing on fixing the current one.

Interesting, although with the blackberry its a mock up not the actually device. So we could be seeing an entirely new change of device. Let’s work on those memory leaks or only allow 3 apps at a time.
