Verizon Wireless Touch Pro2 gets pictured
Earlier this week, a Sprint-branded Touch Pro2 was seen gallivanting around and now it is apparently time for its Verizon Wireless counterpart to make a cameo. Posted over a Howard Forums is the Touch Pro2, complete with a Verizon Wireless logo. Of note, it’s missing the typical red interface that characterizes most of the phones in Big Red’s lineup. Red or not, we hope to see this more shots and information on this handset soon. For those keeping score by the way, three of the big four carriers will now be getting the Pro2 at some point. Woo!

i was planning on getting the sprint tp2 but I’m not a fan of CDMA’s inability to do simultaneous voice and data. I guess I’ll be waiting for the att tp2 when it comes loaded with WM6.5 out of the box (it will originally come with 6.1 I believe). unfortunate, but i guess its the best option.
This is the same/similar argument as computer operating systems. Yes, WM will work great for some, but it is work to get it going and maintain it (notice the post above about it being better off with a custome ROM = maintenance). On the other hand, the iPhone OS is controlled by Apple. They basically tell you what they will allow and you either take it or don’t buy an iPhone. WM on cell phones pushed Apple to make the iPhone and the iPhone pushed Microsoft, Palm, RIM and others to make better phones and operating systems. Is that so bad?
That’s what it all boils down to. Windows Mobile has a lot more potential for software and stuff. What other Mobile OS lets you emulate DOS or even run GBA emulators?
I am a fan of Windows Live and Zune too…MSN messenger is very handy and also worth it by itself.
XDA Developers and the chefs have proven that WinMo is not the problem. I will take an open system over a closed one any day. No matter how pretty and polished the closed system is.
Verizon will cripple this device. Screw Verizon and their overpriced plans.

WTF?!?! What was the last WinMo phone VZW release that had a “red interface”? Everyone who has had a WinMo for more than 8 hours knows the color theme of the UI can be easily changed, but seriously… that remark right there is piss poor wannabe blogging.
That’s the first thing I thought of too when reading this review. It’s Windows Mobile, not some Verizon proprietary interface. You can make it any color you want.
But I’m just glad it’s going to be available on Sprint. Now if we could just get a release date so I know if I should just wait for this phone or get a Pre in the meantime to tide me over.
The TP is $349 online with verizon right now. The TP2 will be how much at launch? $500?
Given verizon’s track record, no way this phone will be released this summer. Maybe by November.
They always saying “you get what you pay for”
The only realistic worthwhile cell phone or PDA is one that meets Mil-Spec 810-F for durability…
I have the xv6800 with wm and it rocks. I purchased mem maid and shutdown unused programs. Never locks up.
dario9 is right, the folks over at XDA-Developers have proven time and time that Windows Mobile and Microsoft are not the culprit. I’ve used Windows Mobile 6.5 and it currently resides on my Wing and I have it overclocked at 240 MHz and it is an excellent experience. I can’t wait to get Windows Mobile 6.5 onto the TouchPro 2 with its big 800 X 480 screen. This device defines what a magnificent keyboard should be. If this device comes to Verizon and does not arrive crippled I will buy this for my wife who this device is perfect for her job as a Nurse Practitioner.
