The Rogers handset that came locked in a safe…

We’re not going to lie — BGR definitely has its perks. One of them is that our pals from FedEx drop off a lot of packages at our office doors and today was no exception. Although it’s a Saturday, the FedEx truck just pulled up and handed us one heavy ass box (12lbs of heavy). Once we checked the shipping address and saw that it was from Rogers Wireless, we couldn’t help but tear away at the packaging. Inside we found an envelope containing a key, a compass and safe box labeled “Join the Revolution: 02-06-09″. Hit the jump for a sneak peak of what’s inside.

More to come tomorrow.

Oh this is hilarious, why is everyone arguing over the date? No one in these comments said it was Feb. 2. Wallyson was making a joke and next thing you know were off topic..again! Can these comments ever stay on topic?
@Dig
Good on ya!
Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone).
I’ve got a feeling we’re going to know VERY soon if this will work on AT&T or not. And if so, we have a good chance that HTC will sell it unlocked through regular channels.
If so, it’s mine. But please not in white. I’ll take ANY other color.

Dear Abo,
Being completely uninterested in a conversation about American hegemony, I will say only this: You write at a second grade level (at best). You and Galvatron must have gotten your high school equivalencies through the same prison system. Whatever happened to Galvatron? He used to be all over BGR with his terribly written posts. Oh well. We got Abo now.
Dear David Thande,
DigDug’s closing statement was, indeed, a bit over the top. However, it’s quite silly to think that believing that the U.S. is the most powerful and influential nation in the world makes one a Cheney fan, or even a Republican for that matter. Fuck Cheney. Then again, I hate everyone, including DigDug for claiming that all Republicans are “putzes”. But people here seem to enjoy making sweeping generalizations, so I’ll just reiterate that I hate everyone.
With Love,
Andy
The fact 1.5 comes loaded and Exchange support gives it a slight advantage over the US ver. at this point..for those who were not aware of that difference.
What’s with all the hate here? Can’t we all just be friends?
Year old handset.
Revolutionary?
I thought Canada was in America, too!
My bad…
When is RIM going to send BGR a safe with the Storm 2 in it? Man I hate Rogers my ass is waiting for the TOUR
@ Bla1ze:
Is this one shipping with exchange support?
@ everyone questioning the safe box
You guys think every G1 will ship from rogers that way, or in a crazy tricky move Rogers PR people decided to fedex these units in a cool package to press/media etc? Wow….
I can only think of three things that Canada has contributed to the planet.
1. Maple syrup
2. Ice Hockey
3. Pamela Anderson (and even she doesn’t want to live there)
Three things! That’s huuuuuge!
That’s my birthday. June 2nd.
bgr, you’re a lucky mother fucker lol
The european date system is used by a majority of the world.
Why is it wrong just because American’s don’t do it that way.
Newsflash. The world revolves around the sun, NOT USA.
I spose the metric system is wrong too, with that logic.
This is not the way we ship out phones. The safe box is fake. Also our handset has Rogers branding on it. Phoney.
I can think of 3 things UAS has contributed to the planet.
1. George Bush
2. A global recession
3. An un-winable war
I will stick with the Canadians I think.
Sorry….typo….USA….not UAS
In fact most countries use dd-mm-yy. The US is unique in the English-speaking world to use mm-dd-yy except for South Africa, which uses yyy-mm-dd, like the Japanese.
@John,
It’s a review unit buddy…
Looks pretty flimsy to me. Fit and finish could be better.
I hope thats a prototype, it looks ugly as sin. All white with a silver keyboard backing? Small buttons and wasted space…maybe I am used to large touch-screen, but damn, no wonder they had that beast locked up!
The mad amount of errors were a test. Congrats you win a years worth of McDonald’s playdo meat burgers.
