Palm Pre release date and pricing announced; June 6th for $199.99

Not to get too in-ya-face about it, but man… we knocked this crap out the park. One of our ninjas hit us up last night and gave us the heads up on this information. As predicted, Palm has just gone ahead and announced the Palm Pre release date and pricing information for the device’s debut on Sprint. It’s $199.99 after a $100 MIR on a 2-year agreement (copying Apple, much?) and will indeed be released on Saturday June 6th online and in Sprint stores in addition to Best Buy, Radio Shack and Wal-Mart. Oh, and in case you’re dying to blow some cash on some Pre accessories, the Touchstone Charging Kit goes on sale the same day for $69.99 and will comes with the Touchstone charging dock and battery cover. A bit steep, but it’s not like we expected it to be anything but.

Happy? Irate? Holding out for the Tour? We wanna know.

Is all this anti-Palm hatred because it’s on the Sprint network (which has made me completely happy for the last 10 years)?

Would you Apple-fanboys have a different opinion if the Pre was on the AT&T network (although, this wouldn’t happen)?

Anyone made the conclusion that urmuthada**** is hauntingly familiar to the antagonist that used to roam under the bridge, here on BGR….by the way of “backbeat”?

This could be a deal breaker. $299.99 with $100 mir is not competitive. Sprint should have priced this thing at 149.00 out the door. And the Mojo SDK is still invitation only. It’s all about the developers!!
Also take into account the Pre’s multimedia capabilities have yet to really be shown off (important to consumers).

The Iphone will most likely be at the same price point of 199 (or lower and no mir) with a larger capacity (16 gigs). The storm 2 will probably also be near the same price point.
The new Samsung android phone will be out soon and from the rumors will be priced at 149.

Yes I know Sprint has the best price point on data, but that isn’t stopping people from moving to other carriers. I for one would like to see Sprint stay in business. It’s a shame really.

    Familiar?? Identical.
On topic: I will go to a Sprint store and check the Pre out when it is released. But I don’t think it will be enough for me to jump ship from T-mo. I will still wait for the Driftwood coming in September. Customer service rep told me 3g lighting up in my area in Q3. Perfect timing for me to ditch my curve.

I concur, I have T-Mobile and rock my 8900 and Storm Unlocked….I have to say that with the leaked OS its pretty amazing machine…love the media capabilities. And also eager for the Driftwood, I can’t decide right now with so many phones coming out. I’m was even thinking of jumping ship for the i phone if it doesn’t disappoint as it did last year…

By your name alone, it’s obvious that you don’t make much money anyways, if any at all. Therefore you probably don’t pay much taxes and you aren’t funding this “federal bailout” very much. Grow up, nobody tells mother jokes past 7th grade.

So going by your idiot logic, are you stashing all $100 of your life savings under your mattress since almost every major bank has received a federal bailout? What does receiving a bailout have to do with anything? Don’t give yourself so much credit – your paltry $50/mo subsidizes a nail in the wall at sprint. They have plenty of money without you.

At that price, I’ll keep my iPhone 3G, wait for Pre reviews, get my 3.0 update and see what apple has in store for us come WWDC. I want to see what the “people” think of the Pre after they have used it.
