iPhone rumor alert: Next-gen specs and launch date
Apple’s WWDC is almost here and as such, it’s time for iPhone rumors and speculation to get hot and heavy. The latest and greatest — July 17 is the rumored launch date and there is a lengthy list of specs to accompany the news. Of course, history shows that when it comes to iPhone rumors, most guesses are a shot in the dark and we can’t speak for the track record of the source (which happens to now be offline). So here we go: Word is the new iPhone will have double the storage capacity of its predecessor at 16GB and 32GB, up from 8GB and 16GB respectively. Battery life will be 1.5 times greater and its processor will be twice as fast as the current model — though. Aesthetically, the back will be a rubberized material and the chrome bezel (you know, the sliver scratch magnet) will disappear. Most of the list of upgrades seem minor, but some are new like the compass we told you about earlier. If this new rumor pans out however, color us unimpressed. Its almost comical when I hear the reasons as to why people don’t like the iphone. c’mon be serious.the new iphone will do everything you bashed the old iphone for not doing, but yet still ppl still find something to pick at. I currently own a bold and while I do like it, I’m going to get an iphone the minute its released. There isn’t much the new iphone can’t do assuming the specs are accurate. The App Store by itself has set the bar far higher than closest competition can even grasp. If u don’t like apple atleast acknowledge what they’ve done for the cell phone industry. Even if u have a bb and love it u should thank apple. Its because of them RIM has upped their game in terms adding more consumer appeal to all of their products. Now all of a sudden they make their products with a lot more attention being payed to things in the past they had no interest in focusing on.
I think the sheep are finally starting to grow cold with their love affair to Apple’s iPhone.
ATT at some point will put it along the ranks of the RAZR series and give them away free with 2 year contracts.
I’m not too fond of the PRE either. Not willing to suffer with Sprint.
I am excited about the HTC Magic or G1 v2.
Whatever the specs are I’m sure apple will come up with something that will make people want to buy the next gen iPhone and I’m probably going to be one of them, and untill I see what the “Pre” can do I’ll consider till then.
What the hell is wrong with you people? A glowing apple logo would be THE SHIT. I’m just hoping there is a goddam camera flash/camera light on that 3.2 megapixel bad boy. That is the one thing that we are really missing right now, besides background apps.

I have been a blackberry user for 3 years and i have a blackberry bold. it’s a good communication phone but the pda and multimedia features are average. The addition of MMS and other features of the upcoming iphone are more than enough to get me to switch to an iphone this summer.

I hope the July 17th release date is nothing more then a rumor because I will not wait. Every other cell phone maker releases several models per year, why does Apple think that releasing once a year is good enough. If the iPhone is not out until July17, I will be buying the more advanced Nokia N97.

Apple could put a turd in a plastic box, state that it was designed in california and all the iSheep would flock to their local apple store to get it! Even if apple doesn’t do anything all that special on this refesh it will still sell. They have the strongest brand loyalty out there. Bluetooth A2DP was announced for iPhone 3.0 back in March.
Why would they be ” colored unimpressed?” these all seem like the rumored specs everyone was talking about. Also in addition the specs and mighty processing power, there could be a whole new UI as well as support for flash
Hopefully there will be a 64gig version with a 5 megapixel camera;)

I am underwhelmed! Why can’t they put some effort into improving the phone portion of this device. It is a reasonable “device” but an absolutely terrible phone–and they call this release an improvement!?
Nice let’s just wait and see more info on this new iphone 3.0 a.k.a Magneto a.k.a glowing apple logo etc as the days go by!!! Well I like apple products but I will stick to my Berry and patiently wait for the Storm2.
