Windows Marketplace for Mobile to allow multiple app installs
Microsoft’s Windows Marketplace for Mobile is reportedly instituting a very customer friendly application sharing policy. According to circulating reports, customers who purchase apps from the online storefront will be able to install those apps on up to five Windows Mobile devices at no additional cost. Most normal people, BGR readers aside, will not own five Windows Mobile 6.5 devices so customers will presumably be able to share purchased apps by authorizing the mobile phones of close family and friends. Daniel Bouie, senior product planner for Microsoft, says that the company “sees this as a permanent feature, and we’ve gotten great positive feedback from the vast majority of developers we’ve talked with about this.” Happy developers, happy customers — is it too good to be true?

celz- If this counts ROM flashing then it will be a huge problem for a lot of people.
The iPhone app store has offered this since the beginning, you can install apps on as many devices as you want, the only limit is it’s an all-or-nothing affair. All apps tied to an account can be synced with a phone, or none, but if you have a centralized account for apps for your family and what have you, there is not a limit to how many devices can receive the app.
Seems much simpler than the “5-rule” IMO.

You smell a bit of fanboy, which might make this hard to accept, but Microsoft’s really got a good idea with this one. I think it’s more likely that you’ll want to share one app with someone than it is that you’ll want to share every app you have.
Between now and the release of WinMo 6.5 and WMM (what I imagine will be the acronym for Windows Marketplace for Mobile) I fully expect someone to fuck this up and either bring the install number down (to, say, 2) or just remove the feature altogether.
I mean, let’s be honest: something like this is seriously smart and consumer-friendly. You’ll excuse me for being cynical until the feature is actually finalized, official, etc.
will all the idiots read the quote – this is clearly about one liveID user using the same app on upto 5 devices the one user owns. This is not about sharing apps. Wow i am amazed how many people on the interent read what they want to, not what was written.
