Rumor: Nokia N97 NAM to ship June 2nd
We’ve long believed that the Nokia N97 would ship in out in July but a new rumor has the North American version of the N97 pegged for a June 2nd shippingdate. The evidence: a screenshot from the site of a major North American distributor, as seen above. We wouldn’t be at all surprised if this rumor pans out and the N97 makes an early word-wide release, especially considering Vodafone UK’s website now lists a June launch instead of July for the Euro edition. No matter what, unless you’re one of the lucky few who managed to score an N97 NAM on pre-order for $454.35, you may just want to hold off on pulling the trigger. From what we hear, June is going to be quite a month for new handsets in the US – *cough* iPhone *cough* Pre. Then again, it makes complete sense that Nokia would try to push the N97 out before the US starts going bananas for the aforementioned carrier-subsidized phones.

When the N97 was announced, I was really excited. Now, it’s starting to look bulky, outdated and underpowered. Despite a high-profile widget competition, very few decent widgets have been written.
In addition, the pre-reviews are bad. Heck, even Eldar of Mobile-Review is panning it in his review.
preordered for 500 with tax and shipping. Think what u will, its going to be great..so is my new iphone and whatever new android pops up.
I really like Nokia phones but I think this thing is too bulky and overpriced for nothing no thank you ! I will stick to my Berry.

Many people are slating the N97, but are completely missing the whole purpose of the device.

“I received a pre-release Nokia N97 from Nokia SA yesterday to take a look at and test for a couple weeks. The version I received is not the same version that will be shipped but it is probably pretty close. In a sense this is a release candidate so there is still a chance the software may be a little buggy and the phone isn’t really supported by 3rd party providers. I’ve noticed a couple quirks which will probably be resolved by the time the phones ship (I understand that the devices will start shipping internationally in a matter of weeks although Nokia can’t confirm any details at this point).” share your views with me at http://www.NokiaN97Forum.com it’s a site for N97 users. see ya
