Verizon’s upcoming BlackBerry releases: Tour, Pearl Flip, Atlas Storm 2 info

So check it. We just got a tip from a new ninja but this information looks really credible so we’re running it… Here’s the random bits of info we received:
- All Verizon BlackBerry handsets launched after the BlackBerry Tour will have Wi-Fi
- The Storm 2’s screen does not press in like SurePress, rather it operates more like traditional capacitive touch screen panels. We’re not sure if the rumored TruePress is just localized haptic feedback or what, but we can’t imagine RIM abandoning their entire fucking selling point on the Storm.
- We have no idea what to think of this part, but, our tipster said the BlackBerry Tour would be accompanied by a BlackBerry Atlas with the Atlas having Wi-Fi, not the Tour. Again, don’t flip out, but it’s just what was told to us by this particular tipster.
- BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 release is “imminent”. We’d say May release, June latest.
- 8230 specs… EV-DO Rev. 0, 2.0 MP Camera, 3.5 ounces, Flash 128 MB, RAM 64 MB, SD Card – Expandable to 16GB, Usage/Standby – 220 min. / 216 hrs.
There you have it, guys!

so much for that selling point. clicking the screen does suck especially when you tend to overlap thumbs. i’m glad they’re changing this on the storm 2.
“All Verizon BlackBerry handsets launched after the BlackBerry Tour will have Wi-Fi”
That’s not inclusive, right? As in, the Tour -doesn’t- have WiFi, correct?
(Sorry if this is old news)
When Verizon gets a Bkackberry with WIFI and a full Qwerty Ill be back, for now, AT&T is where my money is going.
Thanks for the update.
What in the world is the Atlas? Would it be released at the SAME TIME as the Tour? Does it look the same?
Way too random…need more information.
Wi-Fi – YES!
If Big Red puts Wi-Fi on their devices I will be in shock.
Y can’t AT&T get the Pearl flip? Or did I miss that in my tweets?
im laughing my heart out. now, every ATT Fanboy, come aboard, your invited to a 1 on 1 debate about VZW crippling devices, disabling WIFI, what else? i’l save the ‘network’ comparison for another time.
@ Brian
see above:
“…would be accompanied by a BlackBerry Atlas with the Atlas having Wi-Fi, not the Tour”
ergo, Tour = no wifi
I need the 9630 ASAP… the curve has been strugglin for awhile now… I have a feeling I may be droppin mucho dinero this summer on the 9630 and Pre…
I’d never buy a “BlackFlip.”
what the hell is the atlas
Hey joetour, this is big news bro, i cant wait…but the blackberry atlas thing threw me off…any ideas what that thing is bro?
I don’t understand why people like Wi-Fi. It murders the battery. Maybe it’s my area or maybe it’s the Bold’s browser.. but using the Browser with 3G is only marginally slower than Wi-fi, not worth the battery killing. I just tested viewing 5 different sites and timing them. the largest difference was 1.5 seconds. woop de doo about Wi-Fi.
Maybe StevenGlansburg will shutup now; he’s such an idiot.
finally!!! I have been waiting for the pearl flip to come to verizon! Any ideas on color possibilities or retail price? I’m sooooooooooooo excited!!
Wait, so what is the Atlas and how is the Tour being “accompanied” by it? That infers they are dropping at the same time…
you are a dumbass mushroomstamp
verizon is gonna be 2 new bb up on sprint. i mean im att but i just dont get y bb avoids sprint they are the 3rd largest. i was thinking about getting the pre but if that gets old then what would i get a instinct….i rather have zack morris’s phone
Why am I dumbass? Because I dont’ understand why people cry about a service on phone that doesn’t do much unless your in a remote area with craptastic coverage. Sounds like your an idiot for buying into the hype.
Because sprint wants more of palm then anything.
Shroom, not everyone has great coverage man, you dig?
Those pics of storm 2 sure look like surepress. I dont know, this ninga might be smoking something.
You need WiFi for the times that you are in buildings that get no or little reception. As for WiFi killing batteries, I never had a problem with my 8230 or 8900. As a matter a fact, both of them get a helluva a lot better talk/standby than my no WiFi having Storm.
Verizon is still going to charge for the ability unlock wifi probably. They will still cripple away.

I understand that.. I just don’t understand the personal attack on me because I couldn’t understand why people made such a big deal of it. So because I didn’t understand that.. I get called names… are the people here like 10 yrs old or something.
