Swiveling Nokia handset passes through the FCC, headed to Verizon Wireless

Remember that funky swiveling Nokia handset that we told you about back in April. Well, it looks like it is more fact than fiction as it just hopped, skipped, and jumped its way through the FCC.  The Nokia model RM-526 sports dual-band CDMA/EV-DO, Bluetooth 2.1+EDR, has the boxiest form factor ever and runs software version VN_2040T13_VZW_108. Notice anything familiar? Looks like our ninja was spot on and we may actually see this handset hit Big Red sometime this summer.

Where is the earpiece on that 1. ?
Otherwise its not a bad concept. Mimics The samsung cleo. Which has been quite succesfull in canada.

I wouldn’t put much stock in these mock-up pics. A lot of times these FCC pics are simply place holders that don’t mean much of anything.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what this thing actually looks like.

A simple mock up does not give you a true-to-size view of the actual product. For all you know it could be 2 in. square or 10….To me this looks to be an endeavor into the netbook/net tablet as what looks to be a touch pad is neatly fitted below the screen.

Personally, I would never shove a square in any of my pockets but I would sport a nifty netbook/tablet made by Nokia. (Would also make a great entry level LTE device)

BGR ran that mockup before the FCC filing, so that image has been around for months. Good scoop BGR!!!! But it appears as if the mic/earpiece is on the front of the swivel, it’s one of the few things I can distinguish from the rendering besides the qwerty slide out and screen..

ew. Hopefully the real device will have more screen real estate or be a little ‘prettier.’ As is it looks like someone took the e71 apart…used its screen, dpad, and keyboard(plus 2 extra bottom row keys…must be a small spacebar), and scattered them across two hinged slabs…
