Chinese forum leaks possible next generation iPhone details, hints at Internet tablet

Patapon200, a member of the Chinese forum weiphone, has released a screenshot and some specifications reportedly detailing the next generation iPhone. Expected to be announced at the upcoming WWDC, the new iPhone is rumored to have:

  • 600MHz CPU (up from 400MHz)
  • 256MB RAM (up from 128MB)
  • Digital Compass and FM
  • 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus
  • 32GB size
  • Model #: MB717LL
  • No major changes in battery, screen and external casing.

The poster also hinted at the existence of a 9.7-inch wide touchscreen-sporting Apple tablet that is supposedly in pre-production now with the internal codename K48. Just for the record, though Chinese forums have been a source of accurate leaked information in the past, the poster in this case has no such track record.

    Looking for some assistance…live in NYC and currently use a Verizon BB8830 world edition. My plan with Verizon is up next month and my job now gave me the new Sprint BB8350i Curve so I don’t need to pay Verizon for the Enterprise anymore…that being said I’m not sure if I want the new Verizon BB Tour either. Although I’ve never had a problem with VZ service, their phones are always outdated and stripped of some features.

    I wanted to get some opinions on the ATT service via the iPhone 3G in NYC/Long Island. Perhaps when it’s time for me to switch carriers, the 3G iPhone will be discounted due to the new models being shortly released.

    Sorry for the babble, any help is appreciated.

    Its apparent Apple has gotten you hooked. The 1ghz process still isn’t available in their Macs. That 5.0 Camera will never see an i phone probably till 2015. They do little innovations every year, string you along. 2010 June-Flash Camera! New Product Buy Me!

    @David Thande,
    Are you joking? You can get quad core macs running 2.66ghz from the Apple store. Little innovations? They innovate more than Microsoft or any other company. For a company that does little innovations, everyone sure wants to copy them. The iPhone is the phone the others try to beat, and OSX is the OS that is being copied by Microsoft and other open source projects that run on Linux based systems. MS Vista and Windows 7 both have feature taken directly from OSX. Windows 7 looks like an OSX rip off.

    Awe 2.6Ghz whoa! I think that’s what my kid sister’s Dell is clocking in at; that she got last Spring. My Vaio has 3ghz+ and 450GB Drive, 4GBs of Memory, and the other holy “features” that Apple will in doubt “invent” as they did w/ the i phone. Because your philosophy is that you will be strung along for years to come because you assume because its Apple its innovative…go on look cute at Starbucks with your lil Logo! Don’t forget your Pink Acme Case!

    No, actually they have had those specs for a while now. Good to know you keep up with things. And yes, the dock bar that is used in Windows 7 was directly taken from OSX. The concept of the Start menu that keeps all of your programs was invented by an old Apple owned project called NEXT. The concept of the trash can was also created by Apple back in the day. What did Microsoft create? Apple innovations are all over the desktops you use on your computer.

    @David Thande,
    And … if you bump the options on a mac you can get an 8 core xeon at 2.93Ghz that supports a max of 32Gb of RAM from the Apple store.

    No Offense Christopher because I do like your insight, and for the most part I enjoy your debates. Apple products have left a bad taste in my mouth. I was the earlier adapters of the i pod and I went through every generation up until the video classic. Which sits on my Bose Dock without movement for fear that it could fall apart, forcing me to buy the new model at a 10% discount w/ a trade in. I was one of the early adapters of the macbook as I started college and the nonsense I went through with that from Battery fails/UBS/Charger Falling In on itself, monitor blackouts. The first two months of buying my macbook it spent the majority of its time at the Apple Store ( thought they were gonna charge me rent? ) After the entire year of ordeals I found that my hard drive started to delete files on its own. Until the entire operating system crashed. ( They do crash ) the response I got from the Genius Pub was deafing. Just get a new one just get a new one. To me Apples Products only last as long as the new refresh which is a few tweaks, same box. I still keep my Macbook around to show folks when they come over. Its a cute paper weight. So the closest I get is my partners at work w/ iphone. When they struggle w/ email attachments…

    You tell him Chris! David can be rather out of the loop some times. I’m sure that dell isn’t a quad core. And I know it doesn’t have near the build quality as a mac. And it’s needs 4gb of ram to run vista smoothly due to it being resource hog. Btw, my iphone is the only apple product I have ever owned!

    I do believe I post under the name Scott, thank you. And I have a few years of working in IT, owned many computers and I’ve fixed many computers. While, no, I can’t speak of “back in the day”, but I can tell you that over the past few years, I’ve seen less problems with Macs and more problems with Dells. Dell uses some of the cheapest parts in the industry (excluding their XPS line).

    @David Thande,
    Everyone has bad experiences with everything. I hate Microsoft for example, but understand their position. Just because you had a bad experience with them does not make their past and their innovation null. They did not invent the mouse (xerox did), but they applied it to desktop computers where people thought mice were silly and IBM rejected the idea. Same goes for the concept of Windows and visualization of objects through icons. All things Microsoft copied and even went to lawsuits over later in their history. The concept of hypertext in web pages now are a derivative of hypercards which made Gopher irrelevant. Hell even the concept of the desktop computer was innovation by apple. LOTS more besides that. And in modern era we have iPod which made portable digital music popular with the masses. We have podcasts. NOW Windows 7 and VISTA are all taking design concepts and ideas from OSX.

    OH … and most of the good web browsers you get on numerous phones from apple to nokias are based on Webkit, a project by apple that is a derivative of KHTML from Konqueror web browser in Linux. Even on the desktop, Google Chrome uses the webkit rendering engine.

    So look at apple without your personal experience blinders on, and you will see the FACT that modern computing was shaped and molded by innovations by Apple and assisted by Microsoft.

    @David Thande,
    Re-Reading my last comment I didn’t mean my first sentence to sound like that. I meant that someone has a problem with everything at some time. I know lots of people who have had great experience with Microsoft products. I have had nothing but bad experiences. But … that just makes my personal experience bad, it does not mean that microsoft products in fact are terrible. I just did not have as good a time with it than everyone else and there is nothing wrong with that.

    BTW. ArchLinux FTW! lol … sorry had to represent.

    I have an IBM T-60 laptop and a desktop that I built myself. I work with dell laptops and desktops at work (including IBM unix machines), I repair all computers on the side (mac included). I know both sides well.

    While you may be correct about your “new product buy me” concept, you are an awkwardly aggressive comment poster who overexaggerates probably due to a bad apple experience.

    I like the one post by Christopher Cox saying “What did Microsoft create?” while he is referring to Apple being the go to computer. I don’t know how old you are or where you live or what you do for a living, but clearly you don’t work in the business world. Microsoft runs businesses, government, etc. They created the connectivity that currently exists, that drives our economy(insert whatever joke you have here about our economy). Congrats Apple, you can make some cute videos though! Those Pixar movies are to die for!
