T-Mobile G1 v2 made by Motorola, not HTC? Motorola’s first Android phone?

You read that right! We just got a tip that basically more or less confirmed the phone we posted a couple days is going to be manufactured by Motorola for T-Mobile. Why isn’t HTC in the picture on this one? We have no idea. We’ve checked with a second source who also confirmed that this was going to be the case. Plus, look at the image real closely… Look at the keyboard font and the buttons on the front of the device — there’s stuff HTC just wouldn’t do — they’re totally crazy wild Moto style. Our question of the day is, does anyone care what I just wrote?
Thanks, Kevin and our other anonymous ninja!

is there any FCC documentation of it?
once it’s out, everything will be discovered
I’m interested. I have been sad to see Moto faltering. Maybe this will help right the ship.
are you asking or telling us?
@dante
Asking! It’s interesting to me since this would be Motorola’s first Android phone (that we know of), but to others it might not matter.
I hope you give that credit to me, aka SomePerson from Engadget because I was the one to point it out. I even have the link to the image I made.

DO NOT WANT.
When is Motorolla going out of business again?
What about the Clagery. Me want verizon
I don’t care who makes it, as long as it is made properly. This does explain the rumor about it having a 3.5mm jack, since we all know HTC would never do that.
I’m looking to jump ship to the android platform…
I was hoping for a samsung qwerty slide out android but this will do fine…
this looks better than the calgary.
@bg did you get my email?
“does anyone care what I just wrote”…Yes… But I really want to know who makes better phones, HTC or Motorola?
Damn I hope this thing isn’t a piece of crap. I might just buy one in October….
It’s definitely not HTC because there is no odd chin on one of the ends. It seems like HTC has an unspoken rule to make the most bizzare hardware for anything that uses the android OS.

The fact that it is not HTC means little to me, I have a G1 (v1), and I love Android. I have been waiting for someone to design a NICE LOOKING android phone, but keep the physical keyboard – I have been wondering if that was possible – until I saw this leaked image on your site and fell in love.
I’m very excited for this phone to come out and i hope its a solid product.
I think this goes down as the Monday afternoon shocker. So, to answer your question I do care. 2 Kick ass scoops this week, Moto sourced `droid handset, and AWS berry for T-Mobile. Kickn @ss BG.
Also worth noting: Do you realize you have summed the trolls with such a request? May god have mercy on your soul.
oops spelling error

..it might be to late…
I’m interested because we were all trying to figure out why this didn’t look much like any of the phones on HTC’S road map except the jasper maybe..
I want the G2….released for Sprint. Anyone that can make that happen will get a big shiny gold star from me.
Did I mention shiny? It’ll be shiny folks.
nah…that’s the new iphone.
3.5mm headphone jack here we come….? (contains excitement!)
Geez. So many devices in so many days. T-Mobile is really kicking butt right now.
Way to go.
I’m eligible for an upgrade with full discounts right now. I like so many of the upcoming devices I don’t know what to choose?
High end processors, big beautiful screens, expandable memory, 3.5 MM HS Jacks, HTML Browsers, 3G, WiFi and UMA = Awesome feature set
Honestly, this is just a personal stand against Moto since their slurry of past phones has been dismal at best. You take the iconic G1 from T-Mobile and HTC (one of the leading smart phone manufacturers in the world mind you) and pass it off the the same company that created the Evoke. This is like taking the Gallardo from Lamborghini and handing it over to Kia. Seriously, they made a phone with a built in accelerometer that cant tilt right without displaying everything upside down. Even Zoolander eventually learned how to turn left. /rant
Motorola’s not going out of business, if anything the government sector (emergency communications) keeps them afloat.
Now their wireless phones division.. another story.

haaha….get ready for lots of dust in the screen!!!! i have had 4 motorolas (2 bought and 2 replacements) and everyone has had the screen fil l up with dust to the point of being useless. no more moto regardless of OS for me!!!
