Sprint launches the Sanyo SCP-2700 budget messaging phone
Remember those disastrous spy shots of the Sanyo SCP-2700 from back in March? Well luckily for the budget-conscious message addicts out there, the real thing is nowhere near as hideous as those pics made it out to be. Beginning immediately in both “impulsive pink” and “deep blue”, Sprint’s latest QWERTY messaging phone is available for an extremely reasonable $29.99 on a 2-year contract after $50 mail-in rebate. This his and hers duo sports a QWERTY keypad beneath a 2.5-inch 65K color QVGA display. Other notables include a 1.3 megapixel camera with geotagging support, navigation, Bluetooth, voice control and 4.8 hours of talk time. No, its specs won’t knock you out of your chair but for younger users looking to break the one-month SMS record, the SCP-2700 might be just what the doctor ordered. Too bad that pink one missed Mother’s Day.
Thanks, Basil!

It’s been a horrible spring. Where are all the good phones?
The only good cells coming out for sprint this year will be worth the wait will be the palm pre and bb tour
thats what i think
“impulsive pink” and “deep blue”, is that like “up front for boys, in the middle for girls”?
My 13 Year Old cousin would be all over the pink phone. Unfortunatley she got her Blue Rumor that shes surgically attached to. Summer is in a few weeks so i wont be surprised to see these in the hands of Teens All over Malls on Fri & Sat.
That Roadmap is Holdin up its end of the Deal. Now if only We could get that Tour before Labor Day.
yea chi dont forget the touch pro2, diamond2, palm eos, and the samsung android… and thats just off the top of my head..
@celz, but wont the TP2 and diamond2 be running Windows Millenium – er i mean – Windows Mobile 6.1?
celz….not real a big wow factor will see
sorry to tell you guys but the phone was online at sprint.com last thursday and was available at all retail stores on sunday aka mothers day you may want to correct that post
No felling it…
Not to much to it, but it is pink and QWERTY, so I might get one for my wife.
Hey LumberGack….I’m not felling it either
I got this phone for simplicity and ease of use. I used to have the Sanyo S1 which continually ran into problems. Not only is this phone error-free, but stylish. My friends like it and it sends me into the “next generation” of phones without having to enable data usage. Best phone ever.
yea so i got this phone for my birthday, it is amazing and easy to use(: & not only that, but it is so stylish. Every phone should be this great.
worst phone ever:/
I posted on the March, but I am glad that there are some positive posts on the phone here, I just was upgrading 1 of 2 family lines, but I was on the phone w/ sprint, and upgraded both for free, YAY!! I really wanted more social networking with my next phone, but I guess I will live, and upgrade in 1-2 years…It looks like it will be easy for me to switch, I have the Sanyo Katana (yes, original) and this seems to have the same menu set up, different pre-programmed buttons, but other than that, the same… I will let everyone know 2 users comments soon! Mid-Twenties Girl and Boy. Thanks!
Just got it oft the truck last night! I got the numbers transferred no prob @ the sprint store. A few features I like so far are: that I can lock the phone so that people outside the phone book can’t call in, they go straight to voice mail, and that I can set a call alert, so that I don’t miss calling someone, and that sprint now has on their website that I can message pics from my computer, to my phone, as far as I can tell, they have greater resolution than the camera. So far so good, I was a bit worried, but it is in the back of my mind as it could be a problem, but i hope not!!
