I like this phone. I like the dedicated blue tooth button, I hated navigating through the menu’s to get to the blue tooth on my old phone. The length is perfect for me, but I like a phone this is longer and a little bulkier. I have bigger hand and some of the flimsy toys that I have had in the past really irritated me. It is not only great for teenagers like someone above said, but it is also great for us 30 somethings that don’t need a smart phone.

Dangg… I’m getting this for my birthday in 2 weeks, and my mom ordered it today, but its already sold out online and they don’t know when theyre gonna be in stock again! now i either have to wait, or choose another phone… but i really want this one =D

I think the SIZE (Length) is good… especially if you are a guy. I often find phones too short rather than too long.

I just got this phone yesterday and it is HOT!!! i love this phone. by far the best keyboard i have ever used. i played with the storm, iphone, g1, etc etc but this phone is just sweet. not only that you are not required to purchase the $30/month data plan and i can still access my email. i love it.

the phone is to bulky and i found out that the question mark in flip mode when texting is upside down even the explanation point.
but i think it is an upgrade from the first alias with the small keyboards. and has way better graphics in my opinion.

I was at the verizon store today. the screen is huge and the e ink is pretty cool. A good phone for teenagers and other young people. Better then the env2. Much better.

I just bought the Alias2 today. I had an original Alias, so I have a pretty good comparison of the 2.

So here’s my review.

It’s heavier and slightly thicker than the original Alias.
It does NOT have that flimsy feel that the original has.
Both screens are MUCH brighter than the original!!! Huge benefit! I could actually see my screen in the daylight!
The options are very similar to the Alias.

Now the keyboard, it has a nice feel to it and the keys do switch with the press of a button. Don’t expect the keys to act like the Optimus Maximus keyboard. They aren’t LCD, but are still pretty neat for a cell phone.

I don’t see any hesitation when switching the keyboard layout, and believe it or not, it’s easier to txt with. The only problem I see, is if you need a character on the 2nd menu, you have to cycle through the 3rd menu as well to get back to the main menu (where the letters are)… This could also be a lack of me reading the manual as well…

It has a few more buttons and options within the keys to actually send a txt rather then pressing OK every time to send a message.

Also, the buttons on the keyboard, have almost a plastic/rubber feel. Meaning the keys won’t scratch the screen like what happened with the original…

There’s one qwerk that I’m not real fond of. It has a quick button to turn on/off the bluetooth. I don’t use bluetooth enough and can go through the menus if need be. This button is in such a place that I know I’m going to be turning on my bluetooth a lot and going to drain my battery when I don’t need it… So from what I’ve found, I can’t change any of the keymappings, even if I wanted to set that as a different feature, like speaker phone, I can’t do it…

As for battery life, not real sure how that’s going to fair out…

For the price, you really can’t beat it… I also thought about picking up the Versa, but have heard it’s very hard to hear when the keyboard is on the phone and it’s closed… My other option was the HTC Touch Pro, but didn’t want to spend the extra $30 a month because it’s a smart phone…

I went cheap and conventional! Really liked the original Alias and I hope to like this one just as much!

i went to the local BJ’s at the verizon kiosk .
played with it, checked it out thoroughly. here is my humble opinion……………….
first let me tell you that my fear was that its the same cheap plastic build that the original one has, but NO, its the oppesite, a more heavy metal feel, in fact, way too heavy. it weighs (-probebly, since i didnt actually weigh it, at least the feel of it – it certainly outweighs my BB Curve, (after searching a bit, from the specs: Curve/4.02 alias/4.34) but it has a nice feel, you have a good grip on it, and it is NOT bulky at all, its quite thin too, not the likes of moto razor V9, but still thin, if taking into account the width factor.
and a bright external screen is a plus.
now, the magic keypad actually disappoints me. it has white blank keys, and the letters look like stick-on’s, basically, in a very cheap, so early ’90’s kind of look.
otherwise the phone, vibrant screen, and threaded messaging (-available via settings, not by default) is great. and in general it is great software wise, but again, the size, -save the thinness- especially when you flip it open, it becomes a little drag, not to mention that its so long, that you will keep moving the phone while talking, and to the other end while listening.
summery. a bit disappointed.

I work for good ole VZW and I agree to a point. I think we have a few decent phones – LG Versa, Samsung Omnia, LG enV2 – (depending on who the buyer is obviously).. but most of you are right.. Not a whole lot of excitement in the VZW lineup..

Another Average phone to add to there very average line up of phones.

I have Verizon because there coverage is excellent but there phone line up I would rank near the bottom, they really need to step up there game. My contract has been up for 6 months now and they still havent put anything out that I would even consider buying

glansburg is extremely hurt by the fact that the “awesome” phones @ big blue network are either incompetant or in crash mode, (epix,impression).
until he really decides who’s fault it is, att/samsung, we will enjoy our solid big red network.
