BlackBerry Storm OS 4.7.0.141 fails Verizon Wireless testing

Wondering what happened to the Storm OS .141 update we said should have dropped late last month? We had heard rumors of some problems with the OS but over the weekend we got word from a trusted ninja that the much anticipated OS .141 has failed Verizon Wireless’ testing. Oh. No. Too many glitches remain, so this update is supposedly dead in the water. There is no word yet on a new OS version nor any expected release date for a future update. The big question now is what RIM and Verizon will do with the Storm. Will we see another 4.7 version go through testing, will both companies ditch 4.7 and roll out an OS 5.0 update or will development on the Storm be shelved in lieu of the rumored Storm 2? In any case, at this point we really better start to see some movement soon.

I have many friends who own a Storm and they complain a lot, especially when they see my iPhone.
Hopefully Storm 2 will be better.
the blackberry storm is fire. i have .141 and its is straight. anyone who still runs theirs on .75 should be kicked in the nuts. kush
SO WHAT NOW!!?? …
SO is a 4.7.0.201 be up next or OS 5.0.0.???
you are a cunt uncle bernie.
uncle bernie is probably a iphone user that douche
This is my thing. The Storm was the closest thing I was going to get to an IPHONE on Verizon. I admit that the Iphone is a much better phone but I hate ATT. Now after paying 200 bucks I feel like Verizon and RIM screwed me because I was just a test monkey. They’re going to make the Storm-2 a much better phone. Since I used my every 2 upgrade for the Storm I won’t be eligible for the new Storm.
I love Verizon’s network. I rarely have dropped calls compared to my friends who have ATT and TMobile but I think that Verizon is taking advantage of their great network. I’m already paying more than all the carriers. At least treat your loyal customers well. Fix the Storm.
Ok I’m off my soap box.
first off, verizon has NOT confirmed this yet, dont get me wrong I think its true, but until I hear something offical i still have hope. Second, if this is true and they are just going to give up on the Storm all together I am going to be calling and emailing verizon and RIM constantly untill a statement is released about how they are going to fix this problem, or how they are going to pay us Storm users back for (if they actually give up on the storm) now owning a usless, slow, and obsolete divice, personally I would like a free Storm 2 when it comes out, and a different Blackberry to use so until it does so i dont have to anger myself with this peice of shit
what a bunch of bs. The DoD only approves GSM phones because VZW’s POS’s don’t work anywhere else in the world.
After 5 phones in less than 6 months i’m waiting for a new blackberry on Verizon to come out. And because the phone doesn’t work and is a POS it has nothing to due with not finding a phone a like. Stop drinking the lemonade like all these other people and accept that this phone until this point is a disaster. I use use my phone for the global blackberry service and camera since I do marketing, and the phone by itself is bad not that i’ve went through 5 of them.
My Wife Hates Her Storm We Were With T-mobile And She Had A Blackberry 8900 Witch She Loved I Switched To Verizon To Get A Touch Blackberry…I Wish I Never Had Its A Great Phone With alot Of Problems..But I Seem To Work Them Out.so i can deal with the storm……But Now my wife on my ass about someone unlocking her BB 8900 To Verizon Could Someone Help Me……And send Me a Step By Step video How to Get the os 141.For my storm i hate it but its Better Than My bb 8100 Thanks
The Blackberry Storm should be an embarrassment to Blackberry and Verizon. its a total POS.
I waited in line at 4am to get one and they didnt ship more than 50 of them to each store, even in highly populated areas.
Stupid. Just Stupid.
After getting it though, I was amazing at how incredible crappy the software was on the phone. It wouldnt rotate properly, the clicking screen was cool but had no multitouch when it came to typing on the screen, sending e-mails glitched out the screen leaving graphic artifacts across the whole thing, making a receiving calls actually worked, but sound quality wasnt very good as I had to have the phone placed exactly right on my ear to hear anything. battery life was terrible compared to what it advertised and the oeration of the phone itself was sluggish and slow and unresonsive,. a weak rip off of the iphone interface. Rotating the phoe at the main menu would often cause the phone to do weird graphics screwups. how to describe but anone whos seen it knows what i’m talking about. And then the Camera. WORST PICTURES EVER! My 3mp Verizon FlipShot phone took better pictures!!! E-mail?! it would truncate my long e-mails. Just cut them off with no way to download the rest of the message!!
And then, the kicker.
I wanted back to my old plan, and my old phone.
Verizon wouldnt let me. They said now I was on a data contract and I had to stay in one even though I asked MULTIPLE times before I switched if I could switch back, andthey said YEs, no problem, of course you can switch back in 30 if you arent happy. But they Lied. So I happily switched to AT&T for the iPhone. Paying 90 bucks in the process to cancel my verizon contract.
The iPhone is AMAZING. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING.
yeah, theres some issues with it, but they are MORE than acceptible to deral with. Wait 5 or 8 secs for the camera to load? Okay. i can deal.
Dim the screen to save the battery life, I can do that.
No Flash support on websites, Annoying, but no other phone supports it anyway.
Being able to use it?! Priceless. Quick responsiveness? yes. E-mails thats download no matter how big they are? Priceless.
The ability to sync with itunes, with all my music. The ability to download an app for just about ANYTHING I can think of?! Amazing.
The iPhone is hands down, the BEST thing I have ever owned in my entire life. It is so incredibly helpful every single day.
I didnt want to beleive the hype. but now I do.
I HIGHLY suggest trying it out.
The only thing I wish was different was that I could use it on Verizon, for in Los Angeles, the At&t Network drops alot of calls compared to Verizon. And honestly, thats about it.
Good out there guys and gals. I would dump the storm and get the iphone, you wont be sorry!
I go the .113 a while back and I positively love my phone. The camera is great the phone sounds perfect the browser is fast.verizon had the best coverage hands down I don’t care what anyone says. I can’t put my phone down. Everyone is crazy to say all that they do. My phone is classy smooth and sexy. For anyone not to upgrade to at least the .113 is stupid it was so easy. Ill put my phone against any phone out there bring it on phone or pre let’s run 3g speed tests and text speed test and speaker sound and camera quality and email speeds what ever you want my phone is the BEST!
Is this phone just bad for the power users. I am a casual blackberry user, and so far love the storm, which mine is running .75, I havent had to do a battery pull or anything like that. I just hope there is another update to tighten up the OS, but i havent comes across anything showstopping
Great, now I’m a loser because I have a blackberry. Thanks Uncle Bernie
I have to say this pisses me off. Verizon will not even let me exchange this POS for a different phone. By the time they get all the kinks worked out of this storm, the storm 2 will be out.
In the event that RIM and Verizon does not attempt to resolve the issues with the Storm, I say a petition should be created and passed around the internet demanding that they either fix the problem or they give all 1G Storm users the newer Storm once its comes out at a major discount with turn in of first storm or for free.
I love my Storm first of all, the quirks are just irritating when u really need it to perform.
I like da petition idea because this is disrespectful of a company ta leave its “best” customers hangin.
If nothing happens and they release 2. I will be on tv and radio gettin da nationwide roit started!
The storm sucks!!! Im locked in with verizon for two years now, When I bought the phone it was the most expensive one on the market. Now its buy one get one. THEY CANT EVEN GIVE THE PHONE AWAY IT SUCKS SO BAD. I have had nothing but bad luck with my phone, Freezing etc. SERIOUSLY WHEN ARE THEY DOING A RECALL? I would rather have the very first nokia phone ever made than this piece of junk.
My storm works fine after installing .132. Not perfect but fine. I am on it all the time. miss no emails and get all my calls. and believe me there are quite a bit. run multiple apps at the same time and no crash/freeze. i pull once a week. get over it and download .132 and you will see the light. Screw VZW, thats what they are doing to you, even if they might not know it. Storm 2, maybe, maybe the Iphone.
i used to be on sprint. verizon got me locked to switching to them bc of the storm….. i was a big mistake. there are so many bugs with this phone that its not even funny. a bunch of my friends own iphones. it is by far the superior touch screen phone
I must be one of the few that just does not have any issues with his STORM. 4.7.0.122 on my phone from verizon and i have not had any issues at all…the lock works great..accelemotere works awesome no lags, no freezes, no problemo…
So if we were to upgrade to a Beta version of the OS does that cause our functional VZW apps to fail? Like VZ Navigator. I love this and would not want to lose it. Nor would I really like to void the warranty on it, because what if they actually do an exchange for Storm V.1?
I installed 4.7.0.132 a few days ago and am fairly impressed with the improvements. I agree with Bailey’s hope that there be an exchange for Storm V.1 and Storm V.2 but it would be nice to know if that actually happens.
Overall I am very pleased with the Storm and would not trade it for an iPhone primarily because of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server issue. Besides, I have a 5th Generation iPod that suites me just fine.
I’ve got a Storm running .132, and I love it.
Idk why people assume it’s a shitty phone altogether just because of the crap stock OS build.
I’m not gonna try to convince anyone though, I’ll just keep enjoying my phone!
