Because T-Mobile slides it’s own employees into busier WalMarts. Remember also, that Google needs to get this OS out there in a big way to start getting mobile usage data. Plus, TMO’s a bargain “family” oriented carrier, which makes them a popular brand for the bottom 16%

Why have WM involved? They just went and devalued the phone to the bottom 16% of consumers who are price shoppers. And I was thinking it was going to be a quality phone.

you already have to have a data plan for the G1 to work.

I agree with the comments about the camera, what’s the point of making an awesome phone like this and not simply adding a camera?

I just read on the BGR homepage, that t-mobile is going to require data plans for all smartphones starting in june… what about those who dont want the data plan. Meaning that the phone that I’ve waited so long for, is phone that I can’t use because I dont want to opt for a stupid data plan.

I have held this phone and toyed with the on-screen keyboard, and find it to be terrible. I’d normally chuck that up to not being used to the device, but I spent almost an entire day with it. Usually you can get a feel for the keys by that time.

I really hope that the next Android phone I see on the market is the one here: http://www.engadget.com/2009/05/08/t-mobile-g1-revision-revealed/

Personally, I don’t buy a phone for it’s camera. I look at it as an extra bonus. I am well awake of my iphone’s poopy camera. When I want to take real pictures, I bust out my nikon D90.
