So check this, our brothers and sisters at TmoToday broke news of this second iteration of the T-Mobile G1 aka Bigfoot (aka Morrison according to the Walmart roadmap). But we’ve uncovered something very sexy — an awesome image! Full slide-out HTC-style QWERTY? Check. Look for this to drop in October for $148 with a 2-year agreement at Walmart (so, $149.99 on T-Mobile then?). If the hit or miss hardware design of the G1 wasn’t your thing and the Magic’s lack of QWERTY has you disappointed, the G1 v2 is where it’s at.

Wow! I guess people need a tampon. Because they apparently need the cheapest and best phone just for their ego alone since they need to overstate their opinions on consumer garbage web sites so they can express their “individualism” in choice rather than puting out the straight forward info (Get my point? The G1 is getting a fairly tough over the air update(on screen keyboard, search with in web pages, stereo bluetooth) by the end of the may 09 for all users. This is a fact. and it will have flash player10 by the end of the year per Adobe. Iphone and blackberry will not. Buy a N97 if you want the best phone out right now. Other wise shut up. He he

I’m sorry, I know some people argue that phones should come w/ certain functions right out of the box… and you’re right. But that kind of expectation is pretty high for brand new OS and hardware. If the G2 or further Androids phones came out WITHOUT Cupcake, then sure, let’s bitch and moan. But hearing people complain about the 1st handset w/ Android… which is now only been out for 8 months… you’re just being brats.
Any product, from cars to gaming consoles to cell phones… if you’re running something absolutely new from the ground up, there is going to be some kinks that need to be worked out. Otherwise, there’d be no such term as an “Early Adopter”. Gamers know this. Iphone fanatics know this. IF you don’t have the patience, then stick w/ the OS you know so well and don’t be adventurous or take chances then, cause no one cares when you complain.
Like the irony of the guy who posted that he can’t type w/ one hand on the G1 only 4 days before cupcake is going to be pushed out.
Good things comes to those who wait… and to those who are loyal and stick it out. My G1 just keeps gettting better w/ updates and apps. Android is now starting to pick up.
Now, Android is one thing… the G1 is another. I want to be loyal to the G1, but this little rumor of G1v.2 has got me thinking ‘upgrade!’ already. If this is it, then I’m in love. A touch pro-looking device running Android. I couldn’t be more excited. Now… does that mean purchased apps on Android market is similar to Xbox Live market and purchases can be transferred? I hope so!

@ therealninja: the CDMA phones mostly use Qualcomm chips (and some Via).
T-Mobile had the only Android phone because HTC rush an Android phone out while everyone else waited until the software was mature enough.

Okay you corrected the CDMA/Qualcomm statement, but as you said about the MSM7x information it is out of date. The MSM7x chipset was used for original Android development, but Android is being ported to many other basebands.

well… i dig my g1, a lot. problem is, i dropped it in a toilet over thanksgiving weekend, oh yeah, no insurance on it.. thought “why? nah.. ” i dried it out with a blow dryer and q-tips, and it came back to life.. been working as designed until yesterday, when the touch screen went all haywire, but i can still use the track ball to do everything. The toilet water has finally done its work.. I’m impressed that the G1 held out for another 6 months of excessive use. So, I need another G1, but I don’t think this one will hold out for a v2, and I really don’t want to buy another v1, if a v2 is coming..I’m torn. Not sure what to think of the g2 either. Guess I will wait until this one is actually dead.
Wow… I had that happen to an Ipaq PDA in 2001, back when they were a fortune. I was able to make a claim through Compaq though.
I usually sell my “old” phone each year when I get the latest one.
But this time I kept my Pearl 8120 because 1) it’s a great phone; and 2) if my G1 ever takes a dump, so to speak LOL, I have the 8120 as a backup phone till I get something else.

OMG I want this phone soooo bad all the other T-Mobile phones suck!!!!! especially the G1! Why does T-Mobile not have any phones with a touch screen and slide out QWERTY keyboard? Every other phone service like Varizon and Sprint have one why not T-Mobile until October?What was T-Mobile thinking when they released the G1??? Ok. I been looking up this new g1 v2. Looks like its not even going to be by htc. Motorola got it. The g1 v2 in the pic above I want. But the one that is coming out looks nasty to slids down not to side. But the price is still going to be 149 with new 2yr con. Not bad as for now I love me g1. Just with damm programmers would finish makeing dam flash player for our phones… lol. And I should of gotten a black one way easyer to see when texting….

This phone looks like the shit from T-mobile! I really hope this thing gets released with great features and capabilities. My current phone is a Motorola RAZR2, and I would like to upgrade to something a little more sexy and durable as well as cool. I want a QWERTY keyboard and perhaps a nice camera. I started with a tmobile MDA then a tmobile Wing and now I have a tmobile G1 and I just do not see how the G1 could be topped. So the G1 v2 is probably going to be absolutely AMAZING!! Having a G1 and being totally spoiled with the never ending apps on the android market has been like having a new phone every week. Its just completely unthinkable how AWESOME the G1 v2 is gonna be!!! Everyone I know that has an iphone is waiting impatiently for their contracts to expire after seeing my G1 and how it degrades their poor iphones. I AM curious about what will be new or improved with the G1 v2 because the G1 I didn’t think could be any more awesome!! Xmas is coming early this year lol!!!!!
This could possibly be my dream phone. I hope after T-Mobile, it comes to AT&T. Because I will save my money up for this phone.
