BlackBerry Tour 9630 to launch on Verizon the week of July 13th?

Next in line to get scooped on this fine Thursday afternoon? How about a little BlackBerry Tour 9630 love for all you RIM addicts out there? Over the past few weeks we’ve been getting some pretty consistant feedback from various ninjas putting the highly anticipated BlackBerry Tour 9630 on the streets either Wednesday July 15th or Friday July 17th. We’ve been waiting for some more confirmation before running a post but now, thanks to a few email tips, we see that insider kevin byrne from HoFo has placed the launch date on Monday July 13th. Byrne has a good track record and at the very least, he’s always in the right ball park. Judging by our intel at this point we’re leaning more towards the 17th but it’s now a pretty safe bet that one of these three dates is the winner. Sure it’s not as early as BlackBerry-addicted Verizon customers would have liked, but at least now you can gear up for what will definitely be a hot Summer week in July.

    Is the speed of the storm the same as the bold?

    @JoeTour,
    Yes. The both run at the same clock, but they are different chips. They both have 128mb of RAM.

    The Storm and Tour have better processor than the Bold despite the same clock speed because the MSM7600 processor by Qualcomm also has a 133 MHz ARM9 companion processor.

    @JoeTour,
    Although, I would much rather have the Javeline 8900 because it has 256mb of RAM even though it has a slower processor. Most of the hourglass wait times come across because of memory constraints. That is why the Javeline seems snappier than the Bold. Yes I have played with both. Besides, this is a BlackBerry. Its not like we have 3D hardware accelerated games, so the 512Mhz 8900 is “fast enough”. But the extra 128mb or RAM makes it snappier. No 3G though. :(

    Finished an hour long google search. 99% places confirm the fact that “its a 624 mhz “. Someone @ crackberry.com decided its a 512, and keith takes it as gospel.

    @JoeTour,
    Who said what was 512Mhz? The 512Mhz Blackberry is the 8900.

    My mistake. Its 5 something. BTW even though it will ultimately be the same *clock* count it won’t necesserily be the same since its a different browser. As I said, its definately a CDMA variant of the bold, with imrovements in hardware AND the OS. The rest remains to be seen.

    do not believe everything keith said in crackberry. In most websites confirms that storm use 624 mhz processor.

    Are you saying the Storm is 512Mhz? It is not, and never was.

    @David Thande,
    T-Mobile has always stuck with lower end consumer devices and released upper end devices later. I seriously doubt they will release a 1Ghz Blackberry before everyone else.

    I think the whole “The Tour is going to have a weaker processor than the Bold, blah blah blah” crap really boils down to someone trying to compare wiener sizes with everyone else. All I can say is, put your wiener away, dude……….

    I do not trust crackberry forum moderators because they do make mistakes like everybody are. websites does prove that BB storm is using 624 mhz processor. websites aren’t wrong at all. I did check all websites to verify to see if that websites mentioning about storm’s processor and it was confirmed. one last word is don’t bother rubbing people’s face off over storm’s processor. they all have to accept that fact the websites does get correct information!

    Christopher Cox says:

    @James,
    This was a dispute? We all knew Storm was 624Mhz. The clock speed and type of chip (MSM7600) was widely known before the device was released. The Tour is different because nobody has said the clock speed. But since we know it ALSO uses the MSM7600, the Tour is assumed 624Mhz just like the Storm.

    Forget the Tour. The alias 2 is coming…. Lol
    Seroiusly, I’m considering it for 2 reasons. It has threaded messeging. And the convinience of a clamshell, berry is great, but the actual phone use is the best on a clamshell, there is plenty to play around with a berry besides talking. I think I’ll have 2 devices.

    @JoeTour,
    Yeah, that does seem like an interesting device. I am just not into dumbphones though because I do more with my device than make simple calls and messaging.
