BlackBerry Tour 9630 to launch on Verizon the week of July 13th?

Next in line to get scooped on this fine Thursday afternoon? How about a little BlackBerry Tour 9630 love for all you RIM addicts out there? Over the past few weeks we’ve been getting some pretty consistant feedback from various ninjas putting the highly anticipated BlackBerry Tour 9630 on the streets either Wednesday July 15th or Friday July 17th. We’ve been waiting for some more confirmation before running a post but now, thanks to a few email tips, we see that insider kevin byrne from HoFo has placed the launch date on Monday July 13th. Byrne has a good track record and at the very least, he’s always in the right ball park. Judging by our intel at this point we’re leaning more towards the 17th but it’s now a pretty safe bet that one of these three dates is the winner. Sure it’s not as early as BlackBerry-addicted Verizon customers would have liked, but at least now you can gear up for what will definitely be a hot Summer week in July.

@ blah – absolutely nothing. Just a different form factor, less processing power, the 3rd best display out of BB’s and no wifi if you care about that

Basically this is just another Blackberry to anyone that doesn’t own one or want to own one.

    Mehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

    @ keith
its going to sport the same 624 mhz processor that the bold has. plus improved OS, (either 4.7 or 5.0, the bold has 4.6) and i’m not gonna delve into the cdma 3G/edge2G speed issue,(topic has been battled out be4 on these pages) but verizons reliable network will take the Tour to a new unparalleled high.-at least that was my impression from BG review part 1 check it out for yourself-

@JoeTour- I’ve been with verizon for 9 years, I’d say thats loyal lol. My curve was acting up so they gave my 3rd refurb and this thing is trash..verizon’s customer service isn’t the greatest, they should take some pointers from t-mobile in terms of service

t-mobile is the next great thing in the cellular industry, gotta agree with Vzwguy, if i had to bet that somebody will be bigger then VZW, i’l put my $$$ on Tmobile. they are flat out great

    @JoeTour

Uhhhh sorry the Blackberry Tour is actually sporting the same chipset as the Storm. The Tour basically is a Storm. It just doesn’t have the poorly done click in screen, but has a QWERTY keyboard and a better OS… which all equals **** to someone like me that does not want a Blackberry.

Your source of info is BGR, mine is a moderator on Crackberry that just so happens to be a RIM employee. Who are you going to believe?

    @ Keith,

If you don’t want a blackberry and think you are so cool using shit and fuck and whatever, then 1. Why do you keep commenting on a bb post and 2. why are you going to crackberry.com?

    @ keith
check again with your source, you will do a service for the BGR blogsphere, ask him/her specifically “what kind of processor is the tour going to have” the bold has 624 mhz, and being a “CDMA variant” of the bold it should have the same 1,
    and get back to us.
BG your credibility is on the line here…………

What do you know about BG’s sources? He probably has a %95 good track record, and your “rim employee” might be a janitor….so don’t knock the professionals.

P.s. Joe love the new name…..I have the Storm unlocked and 8900 and I use it on T-Mobile….I love love T-Mobile. I tried out Verizon for a bit, great service…amazing service…nearly 3 times the cost just for the same plans…..And At&t doesn’t care if you don’t want an i phone has been my experience with them.

I’m waiting on the 9630 so I pass on my storm to my friend and keep the curve as a back up.

Some of you misunderstand me. My source can be yours too. He’s a moderator at Crackberry.com. He is also a RIM employee. He has said numerous times that the Tour has the same processor as the Storm. The same chipset even. The only differences internally is that the Tour will be shipping with the 5.0 OS.

I can’t believe this is news to any of you. Y’all follow Blackberry posts on BGR but you don’t know about the largest Blackberry blog/forum on the net? Really?

Its funny because everyone seems to know someone who is either a RIM employee or knows a representative. And people have even said they know for a fact something is coming out because their friend works at a carrier store. Point is … those hearsay sources are crap and lots of people on here would agree. I am not saying you are lying, we have just heard the “I know a guy who knows a guy” sources of information before, and they usually don’t pan out. You only need to read through blackberryforums for a while to see that. (Or crackberry for that matter)

no one knows what processor is for tour and 8530 at all, for your info, RIM employee aren’t supposed to reveal any specs for 9630 and all RIM employees at RIM are being monitored by RIM vice president. sometime ago RIM employee got fired for releasing info to his/her friend about BB device.

It seems like everyone knows everything.

Let’s put our differences aside, take heed that these are all speculations, and call it a night.

Sadly, most of you who are arguing and bickering usually have smart, insightful things to say, but once the comment board heats up, you lose yourselves.

To sum it up really, BGR says 624 mhz processor as the bold. Keith/guy who knows a moderator who has a desk assignment @ RIM “assumes” that its the storm processor.
    We shall see………

    Christopher Cox says:

The Blackberry Tour uses the Qualcomm MSM7600 processor (unknown clock), The Blackberry Bold uses the Marvell Tavor PXA930 processor (624 Mhz), and the Blackberry Storm also uses the Qualcomm MSM7600 Processor (624 Mhz).

The Tour and Storm both use the same MSM7600 processor, while the Bold uses the Marvell Tavor. While they have not announced the clock speed of the Tour, it should also be 624 Mhz using the same chip. This makes perfect sense … the Tour is basically a Storm with a physical keyboard.
