TweetGenius for BlackBerry: it’s war on the Twitter streets

For those of you who haven’t yet fainted after reading the title, we have something extra special to share with you. It is a new BlackBerry Twitter application called TweetGenius — yes, it’s something that my team has cooked up, and we think the world of it. Dossy Shiobara, BlackBerry developer extraordinaire and myself have worked countless hours on bringing this application from a concept to a full-fledged Twitter communication tool. Up until now there have been a bunch of new Twitter clients popping up (UberTwitter, SocialScope, etc.) that have all missed that BlackBerry feel—the thing that every BlackBerry application is supposed to be have. You know, that let’s show off what a BlackBerry can do type of deal. We think we’ve created something this fabulous and past all the sexy visual effects (oh man, that *poof* effect is addicting), this is an application that works and works really well. It’s chock full of features — sending your GPS location, uploading pictures, unread tweet counters, keyboard shortcuts — and we’re now ready to soft-launch it. As of this moment, TweetGenius is available to purchase for a nominal fee for the BlackBerry Bold and BlackBerry Curve 8900 devices. Don’t feel left out though, it is only a matter of days before we launch support for the BlackBerry Storm, BlackBerry Curve 83xx and BlackBerry 88xx! Take a look at the short video sneak peak above, check out the application on the TweetGenius website, and more importantly, let us know what you think! Your TweetGenius experience is something we will take very seriously and we will incorporate as much user feedback as humanely possible in future updates. And hey, give us a little credit–We had over 50 testers and the application never leaked — ironic, eh?

I have to pay? And I get free upgrade til V2.0? That’s nice – how many other twitter apps are free? And how many BB apps like Facebook, Myspace, and all the messenger apps are free? Come up with something free – and you will be all the more famous for it! Thanks but no thanks!

Adding my praise. I was a little skeptical about paying $5 for an app, but I did anyway and it was the best decision ever. It’s a 1MB app that’s very snappy. The UI is not only pretty, but usable. I can’t find one single error in the program and Engagdet’s review taught me a few things I didn’t know. For those worried about when 2.0 comes out….it’s 1.0 right now. There will probably be about 6-7 more updates before 2.0 appears.

I haven’t tried SocialScope, so I can’t compare. But as of right now this is the best Twitter app for Blackberry (as compared to UberTwitter and Twitterberry). TweetGenius covers almost every area of Twitter (including the ability to save and track searches/users). The only thing I found missing was the “favorites”.

I’ll try it out once a trial is available – and I promised myself a long time ago to not buy apps directly from the developer. I’m already on my 3rd Storm in 2 months and its too much of a hassle to contact multiple vendors for new registration codes. Mobihand/Crackberry store is very fast with this. Handango can take 2+ days and multiple requests.

Completely love the app.. but unfortunately it’s caused my bb to have considerable lag while it runs in the background. Once i closed it, my blackberry was back to norm..very unfortunate! Not sure what to do now :(

    @ marc flores
    @ boy genius

Would you please tell us how to get it? Damn! Maybe the problem is that I’m using my Bold and not my desktop?

Also, could you please ban “stevenglansberg”? First off, that’s prbably not his name. And he’s a total and completedickhead. Always negative. Always chippy. Always there. With his bullshit. Please. Just… Block him. Same goes for so-called “mangenius.”

Probably because you didn’t scoop it from a ninja because you were in on it. A twitter app for all of us in the BGR comments section should get hostile

I just bought the app. Biggest waste of 5 bucks in my life. The app IS cartoony and does absolutley nothing more than all the free twitter apps. BGR stop trying to rip people off and try to steal their money I a shit app that took a week to make. No inbox integration like yatca? Garbage. No free trial so you hype people up, make them buy shit, and then no refund. I want a fucking refund this is a complete waste. I use yatca and SS there’s no need for this garbage. Not even if it was free. I had faith in you BGR but just like always you reveal yourself to be a dumb cocksucker. If you didn’t blow whomever you do to get new gadget info, no one and I mean no one would be on this site. And for all you fanboys and ass kissers, do a comparisson and prove that it’s better. And bgr wants you to keep paying for every new version. Your lucky RIM doesn’t put a stop to this shit. Def won’t be up in App World. To crappy.
