I think apple rocks. I use tmobile with the g1, and I just ingested my cupcake. G1 kicks iphones as$ bc of its keyboard. I’m just learning to get used to the soft keyboard, but its useless if you need to type anything more than 2 words. I’m rediscovering the phone bc of new features and that will never end because the features will keep coming… att sucks. They would charge you $0.25 everytime you use the keys ‘A’ and ‘T’ during texts if they could get away with it.

Man, I worked for Verizon and At&t, and I have Tmo service while working both places. It’s definitely a “Grass Is Greener” situation. Every carrier has the same phone, with lil cosmetic changes here and there. Only 3-4 devices are carrier specific (VZW-Storm,At&t- Iphone/Bold, Tmo- Sidekick/G1)after that, they are all the same. After selling & buying cell phones for years, you begin to realize that after the first 2 weeks when all the new-ness is gone, you’re going to always want “whats next” =)

I for one am excited to see the g2 in whatever name it will be called coming.. I Have been using a g1 for the past several weeks & I Must say I am impressed.. The functionality is outstanding & I Have used iPhones before, But the interface on the g1 leaves nothing to be desired.. In fact the g1 is my 8th PDA in the past 12 months (yes I am spoiled with a wife who lets me express my electronics fetish) & I traded to it from a HTC Touch Diamond.. The touch flo interface was awesome, but after about 6 hours of the android interface I Was sold..
Also I have my own very reliable source that has been telling me for weeks that the next t-mo android phone wont be called the g2 so I think that part is correct..

Honestly, what other reasonis there to be so gung-ho toward AT&T? A mobile company has 3 things to be based on: service, phones, prices.

Their service is good, but trumped by Verizon. Their phones, except for the iPhone, are the same phones offered by every other company. Their prices are, and I’m sure we can all agree on this one, a bit higher than average.

So, it is a safe assumption that anyone that is an “AT&T fanboy” is, in actuality, an “iPhone fanboy”.

I don’t understand how kanebb is an “Apple fanboy” given he didn’t mention anything about Apple or the iPhone in his post. A troll, sure. An AT&T fanboy, maybe. But there’s nothing Apple-related in his post.

On this blog I see way more people complaining about Apple fanboys then I see actual Apple fanboys, which is sort of odd.

Back on topic: I’m excited to see what T-Mobile, Google, and HTC come out with next! I’ve had several bad experiences with T-Mobile so they’re not my provider but I’m excited to watch Android grow nonetheless. I’m hoping the “G1 v2″ looks more like leaked HTC Memphis than that Ocean-alike, though.

The G1 is a great phone, and the cupcake update is just now coming out, making it even better. Android is a great open source system that keeps getting better. Glad to see more Android phones about to hit the market.

I have been a Loyal T-Mobile customer for almost 6 years and I have owned every highline phone they have made once or even twice. I think they are way behind the times with new phones, while Verizon and AT&T keep coming out with killer phones, no wonder I use an unlocked iphone with all the apps I could ever want or ask for with thousands more if I choose. about the only thing keeping me with TMO is their customer loyalty plan with all unlimted talk time and internet for one low price. I can only pray they release these so called hot phones real soon as I am getting ready to make a move.

I stay with Tmo also because I travel frequently and having an unlocked GSM phone is great. Can you even take Verzion phones out of the country?

@David: See I’m really starting to think its all a ‘the grass is greener thing’.

I’m with VZW. I don’t think there is a single phone on that network worth having. I’ve still got the same grey flip I’ve had for years ’cause I think there maybe something worth using a new every 2 for someday. Hasn’t happened yet.

I look at T-mobile and want almost every phone they have. Not to mention the phones that are coming out (like these ones).

Yet I’ve heard more then a few people say the same thing you are. I’ve heard AT&T people say that about their phones.

I have been a tmo customer for a very long time now. It seemed to me when I first join they had the cool new phones or phones that I ‘wanted’. While I’m still with Tmo, I am considering of switching soon. They only thing keeping me is the price point, reception (which I’ve have problems with, and oversea).

There are so many better phones through Verzion or even AT&T and then there is the ragged, ugly, utilitarian looking phones Tmo have in their collection. The G1 could have been an awesome phone but it looks like some ugly duckling hoping to become a swan. Saddly, it is still an ugly duckling with questional build quality. I’ll wait until June to make the decision but if that’s the ‘roadmap’ then it needs some help.

Look, an iPhone fanboy! Where iPhone has the market on “smart”phones right now, AT&T is in no way the largest provider out there. Verizon, unfortunately, holds that torch. I wouldn’t hold your breath on them putting TMo out of business… actually, yeah, go ahead and hold your breathe…

I personally am excited about the up coming Android releases. It shows a momentum towards the open source market that will force Verizon and AT&T into acceptance. My contract for Verizon is up in August so I’ll be making the switch to TMo at that time, or shortly around it. Verizon, in it’s infinite ignorance, continues to dissapoint by gimping all of their products. AT&T only has the iPhone (and another one of those is scheduled to be released in another couple months) to really make it shine.

Now… if only TMo could add more towers…

I imagine the G1v2 is the memphis that we saw on the leaked roadmap from HTC.

Basically a Magic/mytouch/g2 with a keyboard.
