BlackBerry Curve 8900 making its way to AT&T

OK everybody, just calm down. We got word from one of our ninjas that the BlackBerry Curve 8900 will finally be arriving at AT&T stores some time in June. For those who were hoping for a miracle or at least a little something special added on to compensate you for the handset’s tardiness, sorry, it’ll basically be a mirror of the T-Mobile version. The AT&T version will however have the same themes as the Bold 9000. Woo. No word on pricing yet but it should be around the same as its cousin on T-Mobile’s line-up. For those of you aching for a new BlackBerry but who feel like the Bold might be a little on the larger, heavier side, the wait won’t be much longer.

    GetOverIt says:

people pile on ATT just as they do Verizon about “crippled phones” no wifi and “padded bill??” Majority of people only say crippled phones because they read it somewhere before. As far as a padded bill, same prices as ATT state/federal taxes are the same….

People just want something to complain about. Thats how America is anymore and why companies don’t manufactor anything in the US because people always feel they are worth more than what they earn but don’t want to work more. So they bitch and whine.

You are so right. That’s why I ditched them. They charged me for “extended dormant data sessions.” WTF is that?!?! Luckily someone stood up for us and sued Verizon and got us some money :)

saw it, but 8930 is more in line with the world phone series (8830) not the curve (8310,8330). it really confuses me.
on top of that you have the ‘gemini 8520′ which has the optical ball going. the TOUR is by far the best device, Specs wise

I think the entire point of releasing this phone is to give more options. Blackberries are becoming more and more popular with teenagers and college students (My age group). Most teenagers couldn’t care less if it’s 3G or not; they want a BB for the looks and to check their facebook. This is smaller than the bold which fits for people who want the newest BB, but not a bulky one. People who have the current Curves on ATT now have the newest model as an upgrade option and people who want a BB for looks can now get the newest and thinnest model.

I believe you’re the one making assumptions. I never said anything about you calling in to complain. You said you had great experiences with their customer service, I said I didn know how Verizon’s customer service is because I’ve never had to call in, but I’ve never spoken/contacted/emailed their customer service. I pay my bills online, upgrade online and have never had a reason to “have great experiences with customer service”

Read all the comments; no AT&T issues at all with me, mostly 5 bars 24/7 and excellent customer service if there is ever an issue.

I want a 3G phone period when I upgrade, so while I like the look of the new Jupiter, I’ll stick with my 8310 and wait out a 3G Curve in 6 months or break down and buy a Bold. I’m guessing (praying) that AT&T will start to lower the price of the Bold (still very expensive even for a refurb) when Verizon releases the Tour as part of their marketing plan to keep customers who might make the jump to Big Red.

    Wireless says:

    Just an observation…

There must be a Verizon cabal trolling around Boy Genius Report.

This post is about the AT&T Blackberry 8900 and somehow a few people have turned it into commentary about the Tour, how many phones Verizon is getting and coverage.

Pretty much the same people, attacking those who disagree with Verizon and putting down AT&T in the “carrier wars” in almost every post on the site.

    How did this happen?

    Sure it will says:

Is this the same source thta said a new Strom OS from Verizon last week?? Fire all your sources and maybe your site can get some credibility back..

    pete says:

    @Wireless

I am not a fan of either ATT or VZW in particular.. however it is pretty obvious where ATT’s focus lies. They have done very little to help push consumer oriented BB’s since the Iphone was released – and those of us with old devices (like my 8100) who want new devices are very much looking forward to a change – and it just so happens that VZW has some potentially big consumer BB’s (Flip/Tour/Storm2) coming soon – while ATT has nothing to offer but a much, much delayed Curve upgrade. And even still – the likelyhood of it coming out in June should be taken with several grains of salt.

Sadly TMO is the only one pulling in the new BB’s here, and up in New England, their service is abysmal – so not many will make that jump.

As for the rest of the whining in this thread.. well – its the interwebz – what do you expect? ;)
