BlackBerry Curve 8900 making its way to AT&T

OK everybody, just calm down. We got word from one of our ninjas that the BlackBerry Curve 8900 will finally be arriving at AT&T stores some time in June. For those who were hoping for a miracle or at least a little something special added on to compensate you for the handset’s tardiness, sorry, it’ll basically be a mirror of the T-Mobile version. The AT&T version will however have the same themes as the Bold 9000. Woo. No word on pricing yet but it should be around the same as its cousin on T-Mobile’s line-up. For those of you aching for a new BlackBerry but who feel like the Bold might be a little on the larger, heavier side, the wait won’t be much longer.

@ kevin.
You said it. Freakin deleware. Go to any metro area, including NYC (-tiny little more populated then freakin delaware lol) and check reception.
I don’t see why people like to pile on with the At&t hate if you have the right phone their service is great. Only phone I have with bad service is my iphone, but I think the iphone is very inneficient when it comes yyo data usage. My bold is fast best bb processor by far, I like the bigger screen and vz just seems like a big scrary companie to me. No wifi crippled phones padded bills.
The reason why i put up with ATT is that verizon DOESNT get service in my basement(my room). and Verizon is roaming in morgantown, wv … where i go to school… Verizon is junk
@ richie
Its the first post here that most ppl bitching about ATT and our dear friend latinjersey is AWOL, MIA to defend big blue. OHHHH, HE PROBEBLY DON’T HAVE RECEPTION RIGHT NOW.
@ kevin,
I agree with you. I have had no issues with ATT outside Philly,and the surrounding tri-state area.
@Richie;
Read my post again, no need to bet on anything, I didn’t say att service is better. I actually said verizon has better service so I don’t know what you are putting your money on and betting and stuff. I just find the “come join us” like tag lines little lame that’s all.
I dont understand why anyone puts up with verizon’s BS of crippling phones and lack of wi-fi on their blackberry devices… It’s a joke
VZW has wifi…. but on phones no one really wants
@ joecurve
Lol that sorry ass punk probably switched to Verizon and will get the Tour.
Remember when you said when the Tour comes out that you wanted to have dinner with him and talk about the service and i added to shove the Tour in his face, lmaooo im still laughing at that bro that was funny, im actually reading that whole blog right now lol
@ gokmengs
i stand corrected bro
Maybe is you dumb ass people were smart and knew there is not a CDMA blackberry with WIFI you would shut up. You people are some of the dumbest people. If you don’t know what you are talking about, GO AWAY and DON’T POST!
@ VZW
i agree with you theres no cdma berry with wifi. i wonder how the storm 2 will come about but Verizon chooses to take off wifi in a berry because they fear that it would interfere with their network and etc. But your too harsh with the insults, these people are just mis informed.
@ richie
Yes I do. It was a hell of a good discussion.
Maybe latinboy has a new nickname. He got a good beating he is ashamed to walk in the streets so he goes around in disguise, let’s find him.
^^^^maybe this is gonna bring him out from hiding.
And yes, I still want to have dinner with him when the Tour gets out!!!
Are these the same ninjas who tipped you to the Feb release that never happened?
Bgr is funny when a newer cooler bb comes out for at&t everbody is going to switch to “the tour sucks, vz sucks”
Already made the jump to the Bold after waiting for this, but glad I didn’t wait.
Honestly, this is what I have been waiting for.. the curve 8900 on ATT. I live in the Staten Island area in NYC and ATT’s service as well as VZW’s are the top two. Where I commonly go (school, home, etc.) ATT’s service is better. But VZW is not far behind. I myself had both. My family decided to leave VZW for the charges on the bill that were unnecessary. The bill was extremely high and i didn’t even have a texting/data plan.
As far as 3g goes, i don’t care about it. Like JB said many people don’t even know/care about 3g. Honestly, i’ll live without it as long as ATT isn’t taking their EDGE towers down (which I doubt) then i’m fine with EDGE. And also EDGE is really fast on the 8900 so i’m pretty sure i’ll live through the 4-10 second difference.
As far as the tour goes, it is a great phone… but is it worth the switch to VZW. No. The 8900 and the Tour are both great phones. There really isn’t much of a difference anyway. I think everyone should stop fighting over ATT vs VZW.. 8900 vs 9630.. and 3g vs. EDGE. Just let people do what they want.
I dont know why you people that live in NYC area complain so much about AT&T I live in the outskirts of the city in westchester county, I own an iphone which has the worst reception of all at&t’s phones as far as dropped calls and low bars and I still have minimal issues with at&t’s coverage if at all. Maybe your guys phones have issues because with my fuze I get service everywhere I ever go and I go all over for clients and whatnot
@richie
No probs man.
Now does anyone know the schedule for a new bold or better specs than bold for att? Info would be appreciated
@ jeffdc5
You are right. Everybody has his “in your face” time once in a while. And the wheel turns…..
But the notion that ATT is always ahead in the device market is dead by now. The storm, however flawed in its existing OS is still a revolutionary product that’s promising at least in the future with a good OS and VZ was 1s’t to snatch it, same with the tour, which basically is a BOLD minus all the negatives (form factor, improvements in software etc) so the only. Real contest between the two is over the “network”. That was settled a long time ago……………
Its not that Verizon doesn’t want WIFI, its that all our blackberrys have 3G and GPS. att has like 1 or 2 more phones with wifi then Verizon. Verizon is getting a lot of new phones this year with wifi and it will be more then att, then att will shut up. Att fan boys have no idea what they are talking about.
@ jonathan
Sorry, but your wrong. The 8900 and the 9630 is a world of differences. To point out just 1, and is probebly the most important one is the 624 mhz processor that’s coming w the TOUR. Don’t tell this to any1 who has a bold, he will laugh in your face. And yes, 3G is a big deal (where its availeble) its twice as fast then 2G. Check your facts bro.
@ joecurve
lol when you have that dinner have someone record it
Exactly the Tour has a 624mhz same as the bold faster than the curve which is 528mhz or lower 524mhz i believe just like the storm(528mhz). the tour will be worth even buying it even at full retail price because it looks like a promising phone without any interruptions like the bold. Verizon customers will be happy within the upcoming weeks with the announcement of the TOur and apex, 4G and etc. Be happy your with verizon i know i am
@joecurve
Ok, i don’t care? its a phone seriously everyones making such a big deal about it, grow up.
