Energizer Induction Charger for Wii to drop in May
Yes. Performance Designed Products has just unveiled the Wii accessory every Wii user has been waiting for — even if he or she didn’t know it. That’s right people, say hello to the Energizer Induction Charging System for Wii. PDP’s Energizer-branded line of accessories packs a few gems but none as sweet as this new Wiimote charging dock, which makes use of wireless induction charging technology to facilitate contact-free charging of Wiimotes. Badass. Users won’t even have to remove the protective sleeves or wrist straps from their Wiimotes; just plop that sucker on the charging dock and let induction do its thing. The dock can also be laid flat so Wii MotionPlus users won’t even have to disconnect the adapters to juice up their controllers. Fantastic. The Energizer Induction Charging System for Wii is slated to hit stores next month for $49.99 — a bargain at twice the price.

Frist! This is pretty good because I hate buying battries.
Sweet!
Gabe, a little excited to be first? I mean Frist?
I like the sound of this! My 360 will have even more dust on it!
@gabe
Congrats on being “frist” and of course “QDB”
I already have the other chargers where I have to remove the sleeve. I don’t think it’ll be worth me replacing those with the induction ones, but if I didn’t have them already, I would definitely be all over this! Very nice!
@gabe- oh how i wish i could have been first…
how lame man.
I’ve had one of these made my nyko for a long time. they sell them at costco. why is this news?
ayo it’s amazing that technology like this exists. ya’ll gonna laugh but i remember being a kid watching GIJOE and COBRA was trying to develop something like this i think and the whole time i’m thinking maybe my grandkids will see this…. my bad i just remembered that COBRA was trying to steal energy. NEVERMIND!
I think this is a great idea. I’ve been meaning to buy a rechargeable stand but now im happy I didn’t. People complain about the glove but since I bought my Wii and they were already on, its actually weird for me to not have them on. Any idea how long it takes to fully charge the batteries.
Sounds like a paid advertisement
I thought I saw and price-compared an induction charger for the WII remotes back near December?
At the time I think the price-comparison showed that buying Costco batteries was less-expensive than buying the two special remote thingees and the charger over at least a year’s time.
@Gauntlet Down:
Did you factor in the cost of disposing of all of those batteries?
Just curious about your math.
Very cool. Anything like this for 360?
A bargain at twice the price? It already [i]is[/i] twice the price – Nyko’s perfectly capable charger is only $25 at most retailers, and has the advantage of having extra batteries (for a third and fourth controller) available at retail, something that past Energizer chargers never offered. Hell, Nyko’s four-remotes-at-once “Quad Charger” is only $40.
Still, this is probably worth it if you’re one of those weird folks who plays with the Wiimote condoms on. Most people I know just throw them away, or trade them in to GameStop for 25 cents apiece. No broken TVs yet. ^_^
These might become a better deal when the MotionPlus hits, if the little doohickey actually takes off. Of course, if it does, Nyko and everybody else will redesign their chargers to accommodate it, too…
Oops, sorry about the [i][/i] tags. Habit, lol ^_^
@Gauntlet Down: Controller chargers are so totally worth it. Maybe not after a year (but probably so – do you know how fast the Wiimote eats up batteries? It depends on the game you’re playing, but games that use the Wiimote as a pointer positively devour AAs). But over the life of the console? Definitely. And the convenience of never having to go searching for batteries in the middle of a heated multiplayer match is worth something, too. The environmental benefits are just gravy ^_^
Keep in mind that most chargers already includes two batteries. I don’t know if you were talking about using two remotes or four or whatever. Any old GameStop should have the Nyko charger set for $25 and extra batteries for $10 a pop. At $45 it’s a way better deal than, oh, most Wii games. ^_^
Truth is you can not appreciate this charger till you try it. I for one have and its wonderful.
It charges super fast and no fuss with the stupid cover like with my old charger. With this you just place it on top and it does the rest.Since I will be getting the wii motion plus this will make it so simple. If you have not yet purchased a charger and you can afford it this is WELL worth it price. Wish there were more induction chargers like this for other electronics would love to do away with all the cords!
it is a good product from the response, but i thinks it is too expensive, Penguinunited Electroflow inductive charger is just $29.99, so what’s the difference between the two same funtion products? is there anyone let me know
