Android “cupcake” 1.5 has arrived for T-Mobile G1s
All through the night we received reports from ecstatic T-Mobile G1 users who have been letting us know the Android “cupcake” 1.5 update has been pushed out by T-Mobile. We checked ourselves and this is indeed the case but as some kind readers pointed out to us, customized ROMs can completely thwart a G1’s ability to receive the update notification. It’s not a hard fix to remove those cooked ROMs, so if you want to get your official cupcake on you know what to do. Oh, and let us know how it goes.

Rooted G1’s. Install JF Updater from the market. Switch the mod version in the updaters settings to “ADP 1.” I then had to restart the phone. You’ll then get a notification. Install “Cupcake Radio.” Then Install “JF 1.5(Cupcake) ADP1.”
If you go on to YouTube and search “G1 cupcake” people are posting videos made with their G1 video camera.
Make sure to sort by “newest,” there’s indications on people getting the update (and on some where they are located).

I got cupcake today…didn’t really like the keyboard too much…I can jus type better and faster on the physical keyboard….other than that…I love it
My g1 got the update push at about midnight last night. i can say that i am really happy with the new additions. video camera works great, thedisplay and graphics are a lot smoother. the on-screen keyboard is a little small but is tolerable on landscape…you do have to enable landscape mode so be aware! the only problem i had with it so far is my sd card had to be wiped out for the new update…but no big deal. i have been waiting a long time for this update considering i got the g1 before its actual release date. im so stoked!
This is released and its being published to random G1 phones over the next few weeks. All I know is I can’t find a way to get it on my phone, but my friend who has the G1 does have the cupcake update.
There is a new app called “Camcorder” which records video. ^_^
