BlackBerry Tour hitting Verizon Wireless in July?

BlackBerry Tour? Oh yeah. Now that that’s been confirmed, we’re on to bigger and better things — release dates! The latest information we’ve heard is that the BlackBerry Tour is shaping up to be released on Verizon in the month of July. Factor in RIM’s ability to delay space and time and we’d say a mid-to-late July release date is sounding right. Again, it’s not 100% but that’s just the latest information we’ve been told from a trusty source. There have been various rumors floating around about a much later release date, but at this point in time, we’re very confident that July sounds right. Remember we predicted a May release over a year ago, so this really does fit in with that timing. We expect pricing to be $199 with a 2-year agreement, too. What’s a Storm?

I want this phone but not bad enough to leave Sprint for the Devil…
I guess Ill just go prepaid till Sprint gets it. HA!
Hooorah! When in Canada?
Thank God this thing is almost here. My 8830 is so trashed it’s unreal and now the trackball doesn’t work
Get with it Verizon!
Unless some sort of craziness comes out of WWDC, this will be my next phone.
I guess I can wait until July for the new BB. At least until the new iPhone hits next year on VZW.
@ hey ya:
But you know craziness IS going to come out of WWDC. I really am scared of what this new iPhone is going to be able to do haha
Can’t wait for the Tour! (it hurts me to call it that)
RIM/Verizon are waiting to release this around July because of the “other” phone coming out around that time. I say it’s a great idea! People will have a difficult time picking this phone or the “other” phone.
Fuckin’ A!!
Seriously why not next year? Come on Verizon ur lacking…..
Well July for Verizon, that means Septemberish for Sprint.
They are going to have to put out something better than an antiquated pos like this…
Posted from BGR Mobile (iPhone).
Doesn’t Sprint typically release phones prior to verizon (except where when verizon has an exclusive agreement?)
I mean, look how long the last bunch of HTC phones took for verizon to release, and also the centro, treo 800w, etc. I still think sprint could get this thing out sooner, except for maybe the Palm Pre getting in the way.
sick. will have to live with my F…. curve till then,
yikes.
@ David Thande
You’re an idiot. The Storm was released towards the end of November, and now the Tour is coming in July. AT&T released the Bold in early November, and there aren’t any confirmed release dates for any of it’s coming Blackberry’s. How are they “lacking”? Besides, Verizon doesn’t make the device, RIM does, and Verizon can’t release a device that RIM hasn’t produced yet… Way to think out your comments and place blame where blame is due.
Plus trying to rush the Tour out the door…Do you want another Storm fiasco on your hands? You want Verizon to release a device that isn’t ready for mainstream? Why? So you can come back a week after the device is released and complain about how could Verizon release a phone that isn’t ready yet?
rather have my Storms screen which has been perfect since december 5th 2008 over the Tour
I’m buying this the day it comes out. yay.
My 8830 is also trashed beyond believe…trackball works, except for when I wanna click something. blah.
This sounds about right I kno many people that work at vzw and they have word that they are getting 2 new blackberrys and on is the perl flip they other is unknown to them at this time but seems it could be the tour
I think a reason why it will be in July because of the new Alltel areas that are comming to Verizon. This summer is when many Alltel stores will become Verizon.
I’m kinda glad sprint is getting this later this year that way I can get the pre and by the time its drop on sprint I can buy it for my other line
BG – you guys are good –
Thanks for the update.
@ Cockeater
I’m just saying why do we keep getting different launch dates….Rim hasn’t even aknowlodged its existance…so I’m saying we might even wait till next year…and shut ur pie hole I have a Storm!
So this is basically a Bold but for CDMA?
I wouldn’t anticipate any major delays with the Tour. Think of it as a refined BlackBerry Storm + keypad + trackball – touchscreen. It’s based on the same exact chipset, and an extension of OS 4.7, so it will probably benefit from all the “lessons learned” on the Storm project. So far we haven’t heard of any “new technology” RIM is incorporating (i.e. no SurePress issues to work out?)
Besides, we all know that RIM is scheduling the release to coincide with the start of the U2 360 “Tour”–so they really can’t afford to miss that.
This is great news! I assume testing must be going extremely smoothly..
@jorGeorge
I don’t want to cause a ruckus, but to be perfectly honest, the latest OS build is absolutely rock-solid. Really, really rock-solid.
Very impressed. Then again, they screwed up enough with the 95xx and this is less difficult…
“Damn it, BG! You can’t just say one nice thing about RIM without ruining it, can you!?”
