Samsung’s 20-key T349 is T-Mobile bound; launches May 20th

We’ve just received this little nugget from one of our ninjas about an upcoming handset for T-Mobile, the Samsung T349. While the device itself is nothing too fancy, it is nonetheless a pretty interesting device in that T-Mobile has describes it internally as a “20-key messaging phone.” Despite the blurriness of the image above, we are able to see that the entry-level T349 indeed features a keypad much like the SureType keypads found on the BlackBerry Pearl and Pearl Flip. Specs are as follows:

  • 20-key keypad
  • 1.3 megapixel camera w/ video capture
  • SMS, MMS, Email and IM
  • Bluetooth
  • Speakerphone
  • Photo caller ID, alarm clock, calculator,
  • Mobile backup
  • GPRS connectivity

Look for the Samsung T349 to make its retail debut to both pre and post-paid subscribers on May 20th. Believe it or not, this little guy is the first new handset added to T-Mobile’s pre-paid line-up in the past year. Yay?

this is what i exactly said about t-mobile: Trash-Mobile, why?.. because of phones like these. Instead of coming out with phones like these they need a 3G berry to compete with Verizon & stupid at&t, not sprint, sprint is out the race.

    1. Verizon- Gold
    2. at&t- Silver
    3. T-mobile- Bronze
    4. Sprint- copper; Lmao

Sprint is out of the Race, lmao. Riiiiiiiiight.

It looks like Sprint isn’t interested in the Special Olympics you’ve got goin on there.

And Verizon is Gold? C’mon, their lineup is garbage too.

I hope you realize no one takes your posts seriously.

No need to get in a tiff over basic phones, there will always be a market for these no matter what carrier. There’s no need to reference Olympic medal for an entry level phone

Agree with alex. An ‘entry level’ phone Q2 ‘09 is at least 2 MP camera.
The upcoming alias 2 from verizon should take care of that.

I would say ‘richies’ list is in order. Verizon and ATT are basically a tie when it comes to devices. ATT is a bit ahead of the game (wait! Niagara/tour will suck ass) t-mobile sucks besides their grip on the berry curve 8900

Hope so. If RIM dosent show it @ their show (WES) that means its not ready for prime time. Then look for a sept-oct date.
Gotta tell ya, I’m still suprised that BG described the Niagara/Tour “the best BB experience EVER”
    So let’s see

To the couple of guys freaking out about, “Trash” Mobile, this is a Prepaid phone. What the Hell is Grandma who uses 20 minutes per month going to do with a 3g blackberry?

Even still, the Touch Pro 2, Samsung Android, G2 (or whatever it will be called), SK LX09, and Maple are all just on the horizon.

Grandma dosent need 20 keypads to perform “20 min a month”, so its not created for grandma, its for the texting teens. And to that end its a failure

    Maciek says:

Why are manufacturers so set on releasing phones with inferior cameras? 1.3 MP in 2009??? They should realize that 5 years ago phones were meant to receive photos from other phones via MMS. These days MMS is the secondary functionality of camera phones. The main one is Facebooks, picasas, flickrs etc… aka FULL SIZE Photos where 1.3 MP just won’t do.
