Samsung reportedly prepping Omnia Pro for a July release
This one lies deep in the bowels of Rumorsville for the time being but we can’t say we’d hate for it to become a reality. According to Samsung – HD blog, Sammy will have a new addition to its Omnia lineup come July. Billed as the Omnia Pro — which, by the way, definitely detracts from the believability-factor of this rumor — the new handset will feature a full touchscreen sitting atop a QWERTY slider a la HTC’s Touch Pro and Pro2. Perhaps Sammy figured if it was going to bite the form factor it might as well bite the name, too? Reported specs for the Omnia Pro include a 3.5-inch 800 x 480 AMOLED touchscreen display, Windows Mobile 6.1 (which will be upgradable to 6.5 upon release) and a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus, a flash and video recording capabilities. So if you’ve been eying the OmniaHD but aren’t a fan of S60 5h Edition or touchscreen-only handsets, keep your fingers crossed that this rumor ends up panning out. The image above, by the way, is a mock up created by the source.

Most likely it’ll be on a GSM carrier 1st, that name might not be true but they did bite off HTC for the name of the thier 2nd generation touchscreen phone due out later this year
@ donie
Don’t think so. The original OMNIA went to verizon 1st!
Yawn.
Actually ATT had it 1st, my name is Don, Lou or Louie, my stalker call me that and it makes me uncomfortable
@louie
Check that.
OMNIA is a verizon exclusive.
@ don louie
Check out this link and tell me who got it 1st!!

ATT’s ‘mirage’ is erroneously called the ‘omnia’, it has almost the same spec’s. Was released after verizon
@ don and joecurve
Both are wrong. The Omnia _IS_ a Verizon exclusive in the United States. But it first came out in Europe as a GSM only device, then released with CDMA only for Verizon Wireless some time later.
Exclusive to ROGERS WIRELESS
kthanxbai
I was conceding, could’ve sworn phonearena said att had it 1st. We do agree a GSM variant was 1st though
it cant be upgraded to windows mobile 6.5 because it does not have a windows key. I call bogus as I doubt they would accidentally leave that off.
5 Mgpxl , auto focus, flash, video=nice, plus Samsung uses prettygood lenses don’t they? I don’t know about that keyboard though.
@T0F3R: that keyboard is not from the real Omnia Pro (if a real Omnia Pro indeed exists). It’s from the Samsung F700 and the phone above is a mockup, in case you haven’t noticed.
capacitive? man this what i want i hope its true. ticks all the boxes for me and capacitive would be the icing on the cake
Excuse me but all of you Americans are wrong, Europe will get this phone first and as for Verizon, nope, don’t think so, this phone is just too good for Verizon
MUST HAVE….NEED SO BAD AFFECTING ENGLISH
At this late stage of the game it should be known who the carrier might be. Why is BG mum about that?
my bad, i meant that i hope they use a better keyboard than the one on the mockup
give me capacitive and i go to WHOEVER get this!
Hope this comes to Verizon because if it does, it’ll be my next phone without a doubt. I really don’t mind Windows Mobile, but I honestly don’t care for HTC products.
It won’t be Capacitive- Windows Mobile 6.1 and 6.5 don’t have the ability to use anything but resistive screens.
i doubt it, first its a mock up that didnt come from samsung so the rumor has no support, next is the pro name.. i think sammy took the hd name because they made the defininition higher.. like a touche type thing but the omnia pro just sounds corny
They actually do support capacitive. And Toshiba is releasing a WM 6.1/6.5 capacitive screen phone this year.
@cris
Don’t try to assume things based on your smarts. Trust me it’l fail. And now, the facts.
Verizon was the exclusive carrier for this phone to begin with, so let’s just look for instance the voyager, alias storm etc which have a sucsessor model that’s in the works for verizon. So what makes you think this 1 is different?
