Time Warner readies play for Midway
Midway, maker of everyone’s favorite cute and cuddly franchise Mortal Kombat, has not had a smooth run of late. To recap Midway’s recent plight in one sentence: In December, Sumner Redstone sold his 87 percent stake in Midway for all of $100,000 and the company proceeded to file for bankruptcy in February. Yikes. The creator of a bazillion Mortal Kombat titles isn’t dead in the water just yet however, as several companies are reportedly preparing acquisition bids. One such company, according to Bloomberg, is Time Warner — maker of both Mortal Kombat motion pictures. Hey didn’t one of those win an Oscar? No? Time Warner seemingly won’t have much competition as Bloomberg reports Midway expects less than five bids. Regardless of the outcome of this debacle, the phrase “Finish Him” will hold a special place in our hearts forever.
grew up on those games from the arcade at the pizza parlor to snes to ps1 then i think but not quite sure i think i had one for my old dreamcast back in the day but i might be confusing it resident evil 4. those days were a haze if you know what i mean lol.
When this came out it was hot and got better with each rendition, sad that it and Street Fighter barely get a mention anymore

As much as I love Midway, you gotta say they had the worst rubberband AI, effectionatly as “Computer Cheating”. I remember I could call everytime there would be a interception in NFL Blitz.

Not only is the new street fighter huge now they have had a version on every console since inception not to mention phone versions totally off topic but I had to set that straight
My fault, it took so long for a new Street Fighter, I was just saying those were my favorite titles and they both stopped at 4 or 5 a few years ago. They started out as Sega and SNES games a long time so you would think they would be closer to double digits
Whom ever gets the rights should take their sweet time and make a decent game like CAPCOM did with Street Fighter.

The franchise went to hell after MKII. To bad a version of that and the original Killer Instinct hasn’t made it to the latest platforms.
