AT&T offering refurbished HTC Fuze models for free

The high end Windows Mobile handset dubbed Fuze by AT&T is currently available on the website with a hefty $499 discount, bringing the price down to an even $0. Refurbished, that is. As always, the purchase of a refurbished phone at a basement price will require a 2–year contract and new activation. If you are in the market for a smartphone and don’t mind refurbs, this offer is definitely worth a second look as AT&T’s price smokes those offered by other carriers — $349 for a new Touch Pro with a 2-year Verizon Wireless contract, $299 for a new Touch Pro with a 2-year Sprint contract or $0 for a refurbished AT&T Fuze. Which would you choose?

    At&t is just trying to avoid the same trap detroit got itself in. SUVs=land line as Hybrid=Wireless. Why invest more in yesterdays technology?

    The fan boyz are sure out for this. Whether or not you like WM or not really isn’t the point. For the WM bashers here didn’t our mother ever teach you that if you didn’t anything good to say then say nothing at all. If the Iphone works for you then I say that’s great I’m glad you like it…Enjoy. With the addition of a custom ROM I can’t find much to dislike about WM phones but of course that is MHO. I have owned S60 and WM for years they all have there + and -. Heck I played with an Iphone. It was nice just not what i needed. So in closing I’d like to say why come in here just to bash get out and do something productive.

    Yesterda’s technology happens to deliver today’s technology right to your door or make your business functional. Copper wires that you see and many more that you don’t still carry your DSL or your U-verse if your lucky enough to have it where you live. It also carry’s your T1 and T3 data to your business. And those copper lines still need maintenance, buildings and houses are still being built that all need to be served by yesterday’s technology. Think about it this way let’s say you have DSL a home telephone and a cell phone. All of which needed to be installed at one point in time and continuously maintained. Well the DSL is a copper telephone line and so is your phone line that more then likely shares the same pair of wires that allow you to have DSL so there is one example of yesterdays technology that affects you. Even if you didn’t have a home phone and relied on your cell phone for voice calls or even used VOIP in the end it still uses copper technology or copper wires. And the people that are needed 24/7 to maintain it just want a fair wage for a days work.just for everyone who read this far down Att wants to radically alter the contract. If they would keep the same contract as before no one would complain. But again we the union are fighting for you too. Fighting for fair treatment at work fair wages and equal opportunity’s for all.please let’s not repeat history when the workers were nearly slaves to their jobs.

    @CWA_ATT

    Why are you talking about Core AT&T here, this is about Fuze, that comes from Mobility, and it is a little too late for us. CWA just gave up Mobility to work with Core and that is fucked up. I resigned. Fuck them, fuck you! Strike bitches, that the only way, or shut up and let CWA waste your time and money for nothing. Dipshits

    I’m surprised a union rep is aware of BGR AND can slap together cogent (yet asinine) sentences. CWA is fucking over ATT employees as much as ATT. CWA all but forgot that RSC’s were dragged into the union. The whole bargaining essentially dealt with the call centers.

    Nice post, thanks for putting the word out. I found you via Gizmodo.

    I’m currently with AT&T but not under a contract. I jumped at the thought of this! Called sales support and found out that I do not qualify since I already am a customer.. But I don’t have a contract! I asked if i should just sign up as another customer then cancel my current plan and get it like that.. The answer was that I’m still counted as customer..wtf?

    Anyone know someone on the inside that could help me out here? I will totally fall for a 2 year contract for a free fuze. I dig my Tilt, but the fuze would be a legit upgrade at the low price of free.

    Yeah, they’re looking to grab new subscribers. They’re suckering people who are looking for a smartphone into buying the Fuze. i say “suckering” because AT&T once again ruined another device with their custom ROMs. If you run the Fuze with a custom ROM, even one without a lot of tweaks, it runs much better than AT&T’s version. With a custom ROM, the only major gripe i have with the Fuze is that the screen is too small. Even with finger-friendly apps, Windows Mobile’s resistive screens work better with larger screens. A larger screen would also be more readable. Fortunately, the Touch Pro 2 seems to remedy this.

    Talk about wanting higher wages and ur greed on a site that asked “which fone do u prefer”. Wow! We r in a time of crisis for unemployment rates soaring and u wanna talk about getting higher wages? Thats greed dude, and it dont look good on ya! ;) As for the Bold, theres no touch screen and believe me, Ive seen what happens to a Bold after about 6 months of use. My brother HATES his! Also, look again, the Bold has a smaller screen than the Fuze or Touch Pro. As for the iPhone, sure, try the app store and PAY for ever lil app u decide to try! U dont have to flash a custom ROM before ur warranty expires, simply get a little program calles SK Tools and u wont have the pages takin forever to load! It does all the optimizations for u, just click the appropriate box! U can flash a custom ROM, then if ur having problems and gotta return it, Flash the original ROM to the device, do a master reset and tada; an original Fuze! The Fuze does have the 3G network on AT&T. I dunno where u guys r gettin ur info, but make sure its correct. As for Verizon or Sprint, u WILL NOT get as good customer service as u do through AT&T. I had problem after problem with Verizon charging me wrong prices and takin MY MONEY from my account and adding things I never even had! Now with AT&T I never have a problem, if I call them to dispute a bill concern they r very happy to help me out n take any excess charges off my bill. In fact, I had originally got the HTC Hermes aka AT&T 8525. Yet it had many problems with the device. So after a year and a half of having that fone, WITHOUT having a warranty and being past my 1 year manufacturer warranty, they sent me a Tilt, which in my opinion is a JUNK fone. Then they sent me a Fuze at no cost to me including overnight shipping. So say what u want about the fones and the carriers, as for me, Ill pay a few extra bux and get WAYYY better service with the 3G network and a cell fone that never loses a call! Fuze with AT&T all the way!
