RIM updates Facebook for BlackBerry 1.5 to iron out some major kinks

It would be oh so easy to take a few cheap shots with this one but we’re going to just go ahead and give out the facts. It seems the launch of Facebook 1.5 for BlackBerry was wrought with difficulties as a few major bugs quickly reared their ugly heads. Specifically, if you downloaded Facebook for BlackBerry your default calendar might have gone all screwy and been replaced by one specifically for Facebook. It wasn’t only calendars that got messed up however, as a few friendships hit the rocks when everyone who didn’t list a phone number on his or her Facebook profile page was bombarded with requests to share numbers. Anyway, 1.5.0.32 is now here so hit http://www.blackberry.com/facebook from your Berry’s browser and grab it. But please do one thing if you’ve already got 1.5.0.31 on your handset and your calendar went haywire — make sure that you restore your default calendar by way of Options > Advanced Options > Default Services after you install the update.

Why doesn’t “check for upgrade” in the FaceBook options menu find the upgrade?

I downloaded facebook 1.5.0.32 (the one which supposedly ironed out the kinks) for my US Cellular 8330. After it installed, my data completely went down. I was no longer able to surf the web or send texts, although I was still able to receive texts. I uninstalled the app and my data was restored. I dont know if this is a US Cellular issue or a facebook issue, but I definitely will be holding out for ver 2.0

Dear RIM, please answer this for me.
How is it that almost every other 3rd party application (other than Viigo, and face it, Viigo is a great app, but its development is fucking whack…just ask anyone who used the version at WES last year where memory was leaking faster than an alcoholic) works with 5.0 OS, yet fucking FACEBOOK doesn’t?
    What.
    The.
    Fuck.

I tried to change the calendar back on my 9530 running .75 but the only option is Facebook. Any thoughts on how to fix this? i uniinstalled the app bot .31 and .32 and no help. Would an upgrade to a newer OS work?

the fix doesn’t fix it. If you go and delete the Facebook CICAL, it returns as soon as you reboot the device.

And when you try to sync up after deleting the FB CICAL, the sync process skips over the calendar all together . . . so my device doesn’t/won’t sync up with Outlook . . .

    Any working suggestions?

Hey guys, any help is appreciated. I have a pearl 8130 and when I upgraded to facebook 1.5.0.32, the FB icon disappeared from my menu. The app is downloaded onto my phone because I can find it under options>advanced options>applications, but the icon isn’t on my home screen so I can’t access facebook anymore. My current OS is 4.3, and I’m going to upgrade to 4.5 to see if that fixes the problem. However, I’m reading that facebook 1.5 is only compatible with OS versions 4.6 or later. The problem is the pearl only has an upgrade to 4.5. So what do I do? Can I download the older version of facebook anywhere?

First, go to into your Advanced Options and delete Facebook from the App list.
    Then reboot your device.
Then, when it comes back up, go to blackberry.com/facebook from your handheld and you can re-download it.

Thanks for the tip, but like I said, the problem is that facebook 1.5 is not compatible with my pearl’s operating system version. Is there anyway I can download the old facebook version onto my blackberry again? The links from blackberry.com/facebook and facebook only have version 1.5 now.

    Facebook v 1.3

You have to run it on the desktop manager but I’m not bothering with any of those other updates until I know they are 100%
