Windows Mobile 6.5 on May 11th? Not so much
It looks like we got a little too excited when a poorly-worded post covering Windows Mobile 6.5’s cameo at Tech Ed 2009 hit Microsoft’s Windows Mobile blog. According to Microsoft, the post was misinterpreted and 6.5 will not be launching on the 11th — instead, Microsoft will just be demoing some Windows Mobile 6.5 features/functionality and discussing 6.5’s future. Sad as it may be, we’ll all just have to continue to wait as Redmond gets all of its ducks in a row. The post on the Windows Mobile blog has been updated for clarification sake.

Hurry up!
It seems to me, they should have announced an actual release date by now. Plus considering they are still touting features coming in Windows 6.5, I don’t think well see Windows 7 until 2011.
Windows mobile always angers me as an operating system that with each subsequent release, has less bugs and less memory leaks. Oh they may release a new today screen plugin with each “.” increment, but that’s about it.
i thought it was too good to be true.
jeece!
Not really interested in WinMo @ all I guess its good news for all the WinMo fanboys and girls!!!!!

to be honest…our worlds are complete if you have an omnia with the new spb mobile shell 3!!!!!!!!!!
Or, I could continue running 6.5 on my Touch Pro like I am right now. It’s nothing to write home about. A lot of cool UI enhancements, but it’s still like putting lipstick on a pig. Wake me up when WM 7 comes out.
yeah winmo guys are good…its just..advertising new stuff…makes us want it!
we can do everything all other phones can do and better most of the time.
IMO, winmo 6.5 and 7 is like giving a spoiled kid money
@ aleis to you but to some people the little stuff matters most.. like menus, how elastic the touch scroll menu snap back is, some swear there is a major diff between a hi quality resistive and a hi capcative touch screen, its mainly for them because the iphone is missing alot of the big time features but it gets almost all the small ones better.. i like winmo personally
As long as the OS is made to be universally finger-friendly, more stable in its memory-management, and resolves longterm known connectivity issues, it’s a step in the right direction. Even if it still badly lags behind other OS’s development. If 7 isn’t released within 6 months of the 6.5 update, WinMo is going to lose -alot- of market share. That’s really unfortunate.
sucks.
Wow. Sweet deal Microsoft!
How come Apple can enhance their iPhone’s operating systems once a year? Why don’t you try that Microsoft!
WinMo 6.1 with SPB Mobile Shell 3, anyone?
I’m with Eric on this one. Call me when WinMo 7 comes out. Then we’ll have something to talk about.
Or just get a symbian OS phone that smokes winmo
Eric and Orga can you tell me where you got your 6.5 software from? I have the Htc Diamond 2 ROM running on the Diamond for Sprint. Does the 6.5 run good? Whats different??
@winmouser Try http://www.xda-developers.com great site for custom roms, and helps with phone issues.
@jazzyl and you commented…why?

Perfectly happy with SPB Mobile Shell 3. yawn!
Maybe if these jokers would quit drinking “Memosas at Coho Cafe” they could release 6.5 already….Whenever it comes out, it will still be inferior to Android 1.5, iPhone 3.0, or even Symbian…Sorry MS, your mobile OS is just as bad as Vista
You mob need to grow up and realise that WM puts all other to shame, I dont see one negative comment about Apple etc and it is because we know that WinMo is superior that we dont want to make you cry more(except me) or need to try and justify or prove it!
The majority of WM users are already running WM6.5 beta those who bag it havent tried it!
This debate goes on and on and the war is always started by bitching, moaning, wanker, IPhone fagots jealous obviously, otherwise, why the fuck do you always want to prove something? There’s no contest between a useful device and a fashion accessory bwhahahahaha
Why dont you copy and paste that into a reply?…….Whats that?…………It doesnt copy and paste?(the most simple task available!) bwahahahahhaah, even a piece of shit Symbian can copy and paste after searching through 10 menus for 5 mins.
