LG Viewty Smart is finally official
The official arrival of LG’s Viewty Smart might not have been as well coordinated as LG may have liked, but the highly-anticipated successor to the popular Viewty is now official. Featuring an 8 megapixel camera with a Schneider-Kreuznach lens, the Viewty Smart will be able to take pictures at up to 1600 ISO and record videos in “DVD-quality” with DivX and XviD playback to boot. Other than that, a 3″ touchscreen display with WVGA resolution, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, aGPS, Wi-Fi and the rather interesting 3D S-Class UI round out the rest of the 12.4mm thin package. So when can you get it and for how much? According to LG, Europeans will be the first to get a crack at the Viewty Smart this May and sometime after that it will start to trickle out across the globe. Besides the camera is there any major goody’s? To pack in that big of a camera thay HAD to sacrifice on other stuff didn’t they?

Awesome camera for a phone, crappy most everything else. This seems to be another feature phone, not a smartphone. If its skinned windows mobile it has a chance with some applications, otherwise I feel like its a premium priced low end digital camera with a phone. Who knows, time will tell.
the more we look at it its bassically a camera with a phone. I think we can wait what android, winMo 6.5 has to sell,in terms of upgrades in the sofware.

This phone is exactly what I want. Great phone, good camera, great screen, great playback, great connectivity … so so everything else. I’m not sure why they call it Smart, but I personally don’t need smart phone features.
This is a joke. This phone will cost at least 500 dollars and that’s BEFORE you get the massive microSD card. Honestly, visual voicemail + app store puts iPhone in a perch above 99.9% of smartphones without even trying.

anyway, wow, what a nice looking phone. I like the 3d menus. I’m sure this won’t go anywhere near T-Mobile, it’s too good a phone to ever hit that carrier, I’m thinking at&t or maybe versizon…sigh!. But hey, if it’s in a couple of years that we’ll see it, I’ll be able to get out of that contract.
Just what Ive been waiting for. A great phone, a great camera with vidio and SD! This is a guy’s phone, everything I’ve been waiting for in one device. LG makes great products. I’m in!
I hope that this will cost in the same price range as the original viewty, i was going to buy a viewty or a cookie but now, after the let down of the massive price of the Arena, i hope this is around $300/$400 AUD. to start before it goes down, who knows? if it isnt the same price range as the original viewty then it wont be as popular.
