The BOLD supports 3.6Mbps, whereas the Storm has 7.2Mbps, right?? If this is a software upgrade, can we maybe expect something new, such as OS 5.0, where 7.2MBps??? I’m guessing not, but who knows. The Treo 750 went from UMTS-only to HSDPA after an OS upgrade.

Where does the iPhone fit in here?

Um, sorry to burst your bubble, but I have had Big Red, Alltel (prior to Merger) Sprint, and U.S. Cellular.

ALL of them, with their shitty 1xRTT network, dropped calls ALL the time. And I live in a rather populate area of Texas. So, don’t try to flaunt that the network infrastructure is flawless, or better than GSM in any way, because I can tell you from experience, it isn’t.

T-Mobile has had the best call quality, and when you HAVE service, the best service quality I have seen with ANY of the other providers. I am a strong believer that once T-Mobile expands their network more (and they are, just slower than most) and cover more rural area’s, they are going to dominate this 3G and high speed network game. Mark my words.

The 7.2mb is for cell site links not what your handset is going to get. That is why AT&T is against things like P2P because it effects the overall performance of the cell site if lots of people are consistently bursting 3G data at the same time.

I didn’t bring any other carrier or thier coverage in and still haven’t, att is bad coast to coast, 3g is sparse and it cost too much. If you want sparse 3g and just as spotty voice you can get the G1 instead of the iphone and save money
