$150 refurbished 16GB iPhone 3G from AT&T now available online

That’s right fellas, dump that inventory! With new iPhone models right around the corner, AT&T and Apple have been doing everything they can to move current stock. Back in March we scooped $150 refurbished 16GB iPhone 3Gs hitting various regional stores and this time around it looks like AT&T means business. It is now offering the refurbished 16GB model in both black and white in the online AT&T store, meaning anyone and everyone willing to sign on the dotted line of a new 2-year contract can snag one. There is a limited of one purchase per household however, and the new line or new customer stipulation may apply — meaning you might not be able to renew your current contract and get the $150 price. So, as long as you don’t mind a factory refresh and maybe a tiny scuff here and there — and you aren’t planning to wait for the new iPhones to drop — this might just be the deal for you.

Thanks, Tyrone!

I have just ordered a refurb 3G ($99) as my current EGDE iPhone has been dropped one too many times and now volume up button is stuck. If the next iPhone is worth the upgrade, my wife will take the 3G off me (win-win for everyone)

Actually those who buy this one are the smart ones. It is less than half the price of the new one. If someone wants to spend an extra $200 for a new look, I think those are the ones that are not using their heads to get ahead.

I’ve got a BlackBerry Curve 8900 and have recently purchased an iPhone 3G on prepay, mainly to use for the obvious iPod functions and also browing the web.The main reason for getting it so close to the new iPhone was because with software 3.0 being available on the iPod 3G I don’t think there’ll be anything the new one will have that’ll need. So there’s a reason for buying one so close to the next model being released!

You do know that the new iPhone will have newer hardware, faster 3G speeds, better battery life and the list goes on and on. I have yet to buy an iPhone but I’m definitely excited to see what the 3rd gen iPhone bring to the table when released; my first iPod was also a 3rd gen so I believe I have a certain trend going with Apple products.

I would buy the current one to learn on how to build to applications for the iPhone but since it’s only couple of months before the new one is introduced, I will wait.

P.S. you’re welcome Zach! kinda cool to see something I sent it be posted on BGR… :-)

Anyone know if it is possible to upgrade and get this price? I’m already on at&t, Could I just get this as a new line and then port my existing phone number over?

    @PorkchopXL

No, you cannot port your existing AT&T phone number to a new line on AT&T. In order to get this pricing, you would have to add a new line to your existing account.

If you want to get this price, and are not eligible for early upgrade pricing from AT&T, the only thing you can do is be very nice and polite to the AT&T Customer Service Rep. Another way you can try (which I highly doubt could work) is to go into an AT&T store and try to sway the Customer Service Rep to “hook you up”.

I agree, but why not get a refurb one right now, sell it when the new one comes out to pay for a new one, if it really that much better? I mean come on a $150, you could easily sell that for $350 thats a $200 profit

That’s what I’m planning to do. My screen broke on my old iphone last month, so I was forced to by a new one and sign a 2 year contract. I’m just worried about what pricing option I will have to buy the new phone.

Contact me if anyone purchases one, I will pay 225 for it.

I want the white one. Damn contract isn’t up until October of 2010

Hey you guys keep breaking the iPhone check out the OtterBox website… it has a semi rugged case that has proven time and time again to save my phone from smashing itself all over the pavement.
I think I will buy another iPhone for the wife and then sell her first gen while there is still demand for it!

Does this mean if you have an existing account with AT&T with another phone you can get the iPhone for 149USD and just plug in your sim into to it to get it going?

I’m having my iPhone 3g fixed, cracked screen and a few months after the new one is out I’m going to do the early upgrade. Sure it’ll cost $200 extra but I’d blow that on something else within the year anyway! I’ll keep the old phone as a video player or perhaps pass it to the wife. Buying the refurb now, to help ATT flush these old things when they are ( or certainly seem to be) killing off the Slingmedia program – nah. Sit on’em ATT.

That is one helluva an idea! I think I will use my early upgrade pricing to be valid in 2 days to buy it and than sell it on eBay! Thanks GT for the idea.

For one thing, anyone who says people that buy iPhones now are dumbasses, your the dumbass. Why would they be on the market if they weren’t to be sold? People want iPhones, and they want them now, its foolish to say that only to find out in the summer when the new rumored iphone comes out that everyone will actually regret not getting the current 3g, rather than paying 200.00 for the new one because of a new damn look. Your the dumbass. Speak for yourself.
