No camera version of BlackBerry 8350i now available from Sprint

Tired of having to turn your precious BlackBerry over to an attendant every time you hit your gym locker room? Sure it’s a bit later than the rumor mill had anticipated, but Sprint may finally have the answer for you. The 8350i is now available without that pesky 2 megapixel shooter. Pricing on the 8350i sans-camera is lined up exactly with the older version that includes a camera, albeit barely usable, at $149.99 after $100 mail-in rebate and a 2-year contract. As far as specs go, no need to go through all that; it’s an old school BlackBerry Curve with PTT and no camera. Oh and it has Wi-Fi just like the regular 8350i, which is nice. Of course there are all kinds of reasons a camera-less Curve could be a requirement for you — or more likely your company — so let the enterprise orders commence.

Thanks, Basil!

    Go buy one today and spend 4 hours on the phone with Sprint / Nextel support wondering why you can’t get your email setup on the BIS. HIYO!

    BTW…that’s one jacked up looking back. I am still surprised that no company hasn’t just started make camera-holed-less battery covers.

    I really am not sure the signifigance of having a device with no camera can’t you remove the picture taking capability of any Blackberry with the BES server.

    @ Mike this is iDEN not CDMA. Just get this phone (camera version) and use it with Boost Mobile.

    If you guys (and most bloggers today) had A Clue… if… if you had a fundamental clue about punctuation… if only… you’d understand that the headline is invalid and should read “No-Camera Version”. The way it reads now means “there is currently no version of the BlackBerry 8350i available from Sprint which includes a camera”.

    @mike

    Fail. Again. The 8350i from Telus is on the MIKE network, which is iDEN.

    FYI says:

    @ Mike

    Telus IS a CDMA carrier but they own and operate “Mike” which is their IDEN Network. They also commonly sell all the “Mike” phone in the Telus stores.

    At first I didn’t understand the lack of camera (although I definitely won’t miss it), but now it makes a little more sense. Thanks for the short review. I can’t wait to try this new BB, hopefully some of the problems I’ve encountered with wifi will be solved.

    Now, I’ve had this phone for over three months. It’s made with really cheap plastic and the back cover comes off very easily. Not only that, I have to remove battery ever two days on average to reset the phone. The quality of RIM has gone down…no wonder their profit has gone up. This blackberry is made for business and it should be rugged and high quality. Shame on RIM for putting out such a shitty product. Shame on me for using Nextel…
