@curtis: It is a hardware issue. Older models like the bold only have 128MB of device memory and in the bold’s case 1GB of internal flash.

The Bold 9700 will have 256MB of program memory, this is a very necessary upgrade as OS5 for the bold is already around 113MB installed.

MSN Live Messenger 2.5.27 works perfectly with 5.0.0.238. The version on here 5.0.0.90 is a little old.

In regard to my previous post. I realize that would seem like a hardware issue, but my Bold has plenty of space left, but it only allocates a certain amount to applications. I’m hoping this gets fixed in 5.0 by either allocating more space or allowing you to install apps to a memory card. Thanks.

Any word on whether 5.0 has added additional memory for applications? The biggest problem I am having now is that If I want to install a new app on my Bold, I have to remove an old one. It’s frustrating… especially coming from the iPhone where I could install as many apps as I needed.

8300 people – you probably do NOT want this. I put 4.5 on my 8800 awhile back and it killed the battery. So much so that it couldn’t last more than 12 hours without a recharge on light usage. I can only imagine how bad a 5.0 install woulda been if they ever make it. I finally bought a bold because I liked the new stuff, but I couldn’t stand the battery issue and lag

they are just taking a tried and proven system and tweaking it to make it loo and function easier. I love that.
The fact that this is played down and thereis so much hype about 3.0 for iphone is lame. Considering the biggest headline for it is “NOW HAS COPY AND PASTE”

@ disappointed: no, ur right. The only two apps i use all the time and they don’t work..lol. And the browser is a little..unstable on mine. That’s the third app i use all the time for streaming AM radio stations from all around the world…:)…i love my bold!!

Looking forward to the next 5.0 leak. Hopefully those two apps will work.

Will this find its way to the 8900? & I have a huge question. Do older blackberries get these updates. For example did the pearl or the older curve users get the new UI, media player, etc. Because I’m afraid that in 1 years from now RIM will be at the top of its game with the UI due to hiring the UI designer behind Mac OS x and the iPhone, and I won’t be able to get it.

PLEASE ANSWER.
