Whiskey…Tango…Foxtrot. Umm, no it won’t. Did you even bother to read the article?

“With the collapse of UWB as a near-term generic option for personal area networking (PAN)–it may wind up being important, but it’s not right now–802.11 standards will likely morph into WLAN/PAN systems.”

UWB was dead even back in April when this story was posted, so why did you write this? It’s totally misleading.

Why is everyone excited?

BT 2.1 was out ages ago and OEMs are still sellinng phones with security, pairing, and efficiently inferior 2.0.

You can rave all you want, but if it isn’t cheap to implement… OEMs won’t give you a chance to purchase a product with this high tech.

When it rains, it pours. We just got another 3.0, the Beta 2 software for that iPhone, and OS 5.0 for the BlackBerry. Both are good builds.

I use a stereo bt headset for music, and anything to give faster throughput and save on the battery is a win win in my book. Sometimes my BT lags and will speed up the music randomly to compensate..weird.

Enabling faster data transfers while lowering power consumption will be especially nice on my smartphones.

My current phone, the G1, with BT on uses battery power like a coke addict doing 10 lines in one snort, so to speak.

So anything that can decrease battery drain is GREAT.

And to increase transfer speeds at the same time, that’s amazing, IMHO.

I’d like to see companies do this with GPS too. That G1 feature is also a big drain on my life.

That is fantastic. I like that we are progressing on all fronts, including, for example, USB 3.0 that will be 10X as fast as USB 2.0.

The only downer is that all my stuff will be outdated next year. So in 2010 it will be BT 3.0, USB 3.0, Blu-Ray drives at old 10X CD-RW prices, 16GB MicroSD chips for $20.

Anyone wanna buy all my soon-to-be outdated stuff so I can wet my beak on the new technologies?
